huard is our starter qb - apparently announced today. i'm cool with that - let's just hope he steps up and takes the reigns as a leader for this team.

alex_victory at busby's happy hour for his bday celebration and the pat's preseason.
saturday shelby and i hit karie's cemetery tour at the hollywood forever cemetery where we saw the resting places of rudolph valentino, mel blanc, janet gaynor, desmond taylor, billie burke, virginia rappe, and douglas fairbanks + doug fairbanks jr just to name a few. hattie mcdaniels, jayne mansfield, and johnny ramone have cenotaphs there as well. i highly recommend her tour to anyone curious b/c she has a wonderful wealth of knowledge about the cemetery's history as well as the individual resting places we visited. i want to go back b/c i hadn't done my research on who all were buried there and have discovered this morning the vast number of people i would love to visit. karie recommended we come for day of the dead and told us she would happily give us an informal tour of the westwood cemetery any time we wanted to go as well.
we grabbed dinner at south street before picking up some items at the mall for shelby. discovering that none of the 3 theatres would work out for us seeing a movie without waiting forever, we grabbed dairy queen blizzards and went home to catch up on tv with a bottle of wine. we ultimately watched much of frisky dingo's first season online and caught shelby up on hard knocks while finally cracking open the stama syrah. we want to go back to amador county now.
sunday we arose to visit amy's yard sale in beachwood cyn for her marathon fundraising. she had sold quite a bit of my clothing by the time we got there. we had sweet treats for breakfast, and, discovering everything was a dollar, i snagged janet fitch's paint it black which i had been eyeing for a while and an itty bitty booklight. shelby grabbed a goldfish covered pint glass. we got to hang out a little with gracie the dane and hank the dalmatian before heading back to my place where we split for the afternoon.
alex dropped off
gina and picked up shelby to go game at
oslowe's. i took gina to mirabelle for the dine out la program happening right now.
mspunkrockstar soon arrived and we chatted away as we gorged through a 3 course meal. i sadly barely ate my dessert i was so stuffed on the melt in your mouth 18 hr slow cooked beef shortrib and crab bisque, but it was a wonderful time in a lovely environment that none of us would normally do. gina & i are hoping to exploit it one last time this week.
all three of us sufficiently stuffed, we trodded to our respective homes where i crashed on the loveseat and caught up on trash tv while a freak cloud sprinkle happened outside. i agree with
gina - total tease! i finally got in an hour nap before starting up my trash tv watching again when shelby arrived. we ate dinner at cobras & matadors where they have no corkage fee again which is good to know, watched thank you for smoking while drinking the 2002 chumeia cabernet sauvignon, and finished off with a little more trash tv before crashing.
