Rally for Same Sex Marriage Tomorrow

Nov 19, 2010 14:23

Saturday 20th, 1pm to 3pm - Rally followed by march.
Queens Park (opp Treasury Casino) Cnr George & Elizabeth st, Brisbane City

One of the speakers will be Shelly Argent who recently was awarded Senior QLD Australian of the Year.

After Equal Love and its supporters made same sex marriage an election issue (for the first time since its six year old ban) it is more important than ever that we keep the pressure on the government to change their homophobic laws. It was ordinary people coming out to support equal rights which forced this issue onto the mainstream political agenda, and we want to continue to build on this momentum.

A rally to round off the massively successful 'National Year of Action' and show that just because Labor is still in government, does not mean we will continue to accept second-class citizenship for LGBTI people, or tolerate homophobia in Australia today.

This demonstration has to be as lively, loud, defiant, and big as the last. We need all our supporters there! Invite your friends, family, workmates, school and uni friends! As this year has shown, when we fight, we can win!
