When you say paper supports - you're working in watercolours and inks, and would need framing assistance?
Re wood - (caveat here, I'm an ex-employee of the venue I'm about to recommend) would Reverse Garbage be likely to be of any help? They have a very wide selection of timber offcuts, a great deal of which is breathtakingly beautiful material!
I'd hardly call your work low-brow, but there's definitely an occasional feel of the burlesque to it, which would be most, most welcome!
3 x 3 or close to, we can definitely do for you - maybe 2, or 1 & 1/2 standard sizes, or 'FLATS', as we'll be calling them?
There'll be a sliding scale of spaces available, from a single POSTCARD or even an A5 FLYER, up to whole walls, or even the whole space, if someone wants to book us out for a dedicated exhibit. And any of those spaces can be hired for as long as one likes, for just an hour, or a month, or - whatever.
All media and a whole gamut of content welcome - we do tend towards the cheeky and the tongue in cheek, in our general aesthetic and ethical approach, though, so anything that reinforces that is a huge bonus. Installations definitely welcome - floor space is rated on the same scale as wall space. For anything that needs both, well, we're willing to negotiate - probably a '1 & a 1/2' space rate...

No harm in being new - we're, obviously, new ourselves. And while we're still feeling our way around in terms of what the market can currently bear, we've got some pretty clear ideas regarding what's 'right' and what's 'wrong'. Most importantly, we feel that the display of work is a two way street, and unless both parties are happy, the whole situation's made of fail. So we'll bend over backwards to help you trust your instincts, and hope that you'll trust ours to some degree too.
I def hear you re the Valley: just looking at lease costs there is giving me coronaries. I'd like to be around other galleries, just to point up the marked differences in ethos, but that's not entirely necessary. We're also looking a little further out - West End, The Gabba, Albion, and even further, among admittedly industrial areas like Geebung, Virginia, Northgate and Fairfield/Yeerongpilly, the advantages of which are the distinct rate drops, and still reliable train/bus access.
Primarily, we're concerned that there's both public transport and foot traffic, generated by a reasonable clump of other retail businesses (partly regardless of business type). Nundah's also under consideration.
Oh, and you can bet your sweet tax bonus there'll be shiny events! The project's parent company will be producing theatre, and for the gallery there'll DEF be live music, burlesque, stand-up - whatever feels right for the night. We'll very much be taking a leaf out of the CBD Gallery book there, and doing something awesome on hopefully a weekly basis.

We'll be making a move into a premises within 5 - 6 weeks, and will be hopefully ready to open to the public within no more than a month after that. So - late August/Early September, possibly?
Yes, we'll be looking at burlesque, stand up comedy, impro, live music, whatever sounds like fun, and isn't, perhaps, being seen much at the moment. So the doors are open re suggestions, there.
We'll also be using part of the space as a dedicated rehearsal/possibly performance venue for a variety of theatrical projects, which are also in the planning stages as we speak...
