My best friend from high school (who also plays occasionally in the SCA, and thus is known to some on my flist) is getting married (again) in Pittsburgh this weekend. The quandry was how to manage to get there without taking a vacation day.
It is a Major Travesty that a non-stop flight is not available to Pittsburgh from either the Newburgh, NY or the Albany, NY airports, despite Pittsburgh being THE major US Airways hub. So to Newark I shall go, at 4:00 AM, yes, there's a 4:00 in the AM too, to be there with ample waiting time for my morning flight. The Bride is picking me up at the airport (thank goodness both her home and the wedding are VERY close by), we are getting our hair done, having lunch, and reporting to the site for last-minute panicking. Hubby is not going, so
koredono is serving as my escort. Will also get to see my wonderful Laurel Premiere, and a bunch of other folks I wouldn't otherwise probably see before next Pennsic, so win/win. The other win is that I finally have an occasion to wear the faboo dress that
stitchjock made me for
mstra_margarita's wedding (though shortened and without the crinoline...big thanks to
nedlnthred for marking the new hem). (BTW,
stitchjock, if I NEVER attach a damn piece of horsehair braid to anything again it will be too soon, that stuff is wacky.)
I'll be crashing at the bride's house, and going to post-wedding family brunch Sunday, then back to the airport, back to Newark, and another drive to get home. Whew!
Of course being me my major fear is of some snafu breaking this finely-tuned chain of plans and causing chaos, but we'll cross that bridge if we come to it. I shall relax and go with the flow. Thank goodness for punk rock, I should be able to manage the 4 AM drive.
