End of the year meme.

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?

Had a job that ended with my knowing so in advance and it wasn't my choice. If that makes sense. ETA: OH. And sort of had a date-like thing? haha. I totally forgot about that. A date with someone I met online that totally was so horrible that it will be fodder for a novel someday.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Don't think I had any, don't think I'll make any. ETA: I totally lied. I absolutely had one resolution. And I totally stuck to it. I think I'll roll this resolution over to next year, as well. /flex!

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Yes! The ever-wonderful drsnicket had a baby girl, L, and another of my high school friends, V, had a baby girl, W. And another high school friend (not that I'm all that close to her) had a baby girl, R.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

No, thankfully.

5. What countries did you visit?

The United States of America for a week. Hung out in Cape Cod and Boston and got rained on, then got a horrible sunburn during the 6 hours of sunlight we actually got.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?

More direction in life.

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

March 3rd, since that's when L was born. :)

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Probably a bunch of self-revelations that will hopefully propel me through the next year. Oh, and also, the dynamic drop-down menus on the website I built for a friend. When I got those to work properly, I felt like I'd climbed Everest.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Not yet being done with my degree. :P

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

CB gave me the plague during the late summer, but nothing bad. Got my flu shot!

11. What was the best thing you bought?

I didn't really buy a ton of stuff, but I guess a season of How I Met Your Mother, maybe?

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?

I don't really know. I can't think of any amazing acts of kindness or goodness in my life, really, at least not more than I'd expect.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?

My mother. :P

14. Where did most of your money go?

Rent, food.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

I got back into the swing of TV stuff, so maybe that?

16. What song will always remind you of 2009?

Oddly, probably Poison, by Bel Biv Devoe, which was actually a song from the early 90s, but they covered it on Glee, so I fell back in love with it all over again, including whenever it plays on my 90s-themed radio station I listen to, 90sbuzz.com. :)

17. Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?

About the same, really.

II. Thinner or fatter?

I have definitely put on a little weight compared to last year.

III. Richer or poorer?

Poorer, since my contract ended at the end of August.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Taking photos. Writing. Keeping in touch with my friends who are long-distance.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Yet again, procrastination.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

Yet again, I was at my parents' house for about 30 hours. Dinners included lasagna on Christmas Eve and turkey on Christmas itself. Bonus: Got to see drsnicket, A and L. :)

21 is always missing. One year, I'll write up a #21.

22. Did you fall in love in 2009?

No. Didn't even find myself crushing on anyone. The world is empty of interesting women who are remotely available to me.

23. How many one night stands?

None.

24. What was your favourite TV program?

The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock, V, Dollhouse, Venice the Series.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

No one in particular.

26. What was the best book you read?

Outliers, by Malcolm Gladwell.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

90sbuzz.com.

28. What did you want and get?

To play WoW with a dear RL friend. After two years of talking about it, we are finally in the same guild and playing together four nights a week. It's pretty cool.

29. What did you want and not get?

Another job, following the end of my last contract.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?

I feel like there should be a really obvious answer to this, but I can't remember what blockbusters came out... I guess Star Trek was pretty cool. I liked it a lot, even though I REALLY didn't think I would. They managed to satisfy me as a TNG fan with more than passing familiarity of TOS. Half-Blood Prince was pretty snazzy, too.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I was 32. I think I went to dinner and saw a movie with JB? I should REALLY start writing this stuff down.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Finishing NaNo, writing more in general, finding work that I enjoy.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?

Jeany, yet again.

34. What kept you sane?

I was kept sane?

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Jessica Leccia and Crystal Chappell. ... You know, the whole Guiding Light/Venice thing totally kept me mostly sane.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

Probably same-sex marriage again. Thankfully, not in Canada, since it's legal and has been for years, though not for lack of the Conservatives trying.

37. Who did you miss?

As always, drsnicket, MG, PF. A couple other old friends, too.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

Didn't meet a lot of new people, really, none who I've really liked enough to have really stuck.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.

The mantra of the year: Breathing is good. Also: "I am a hollow reed. Trouble blows through me like the wind."

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

"That girl is poison!" ;D
