Day 7.

Sep 28, 2009 15:41

day 01 | a song
day 02 | a picture
day 03 | a book
day 04 | a site
day 05 | a youtube clip
day 06 | a quote
day 07 | whatever tickles your fancy

I thought I'd share one of each today, all in one post. Why? Because it tickles my fancy, that's why.

A song:
First Movement of Beethoven's Symphony #6 in F Major, performed by the London Symphony Orchestra (please right-click, save-as). This is the piece of music that gets me to sleep 98% of the time if I can't sleep. I try not to use it too often, either, just in case I desensitize myself to it. One of the most beautiful pieces of music I know. It's called the Pastoral Symphony. My dad, who is the one who got me listening to it when I couldn't sleep, told me I should listen to the music and close my eyes and imagine running through hills and valleys. I pictured The Sound of Music then and still do to this day.

The old Marianopolis College campus.

A book:
The Writing Class by Jincy Willett. I bought this at a Border's in Boston with drsnicket and baby L in tow. Basically, I needed a halfway decent book to help me avoid the fact that I was spending seven days with six family members. I actually liked this a great deal and finally finished it at the cottage a month or so ago. Once we got back from Cape Cod, I couldn't read it at home alone. I was creeped out. (It's a murder mystery, as you may be able to tell from the cover.) Definitely worth the quick read.

A site:
Venice the Series. The site may be currently down, but this is the home page for the upcoming webseries, Venice, starring Crystal Chappell as out lesbian, Gina. Really looks to be something special. Crystal and her long-time friend, Kim, came up with the concept of Venice and then got hooked up with Hope, who was a friend of a friend, and now Crystal's starring in it (and exec-producing), Kim's the head writer and Hope is the producer/director. Coming in late November!

A YouTube video:
Montreal Canadiens - 100 years and 100 more. I got teary-eyed while watching this. Shut up.

A quote:
"Love isn't brains, children, it's blood -- blood screaming inside you to work its will. I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it". - Spike, "Lover's Walk", Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. I kind of love that quote. A lot.

And that brings us back to day 7. So here's my post.
