Bye Bye Wisdom Teeth

Jul 16, 2007 22:41

So the day began very nerve-racking for me. I know wisdom teeth is a very common procedure and not a huge deal compared to other surgeries, but I've never been sedated and the last time I was hooked up to an IV was at birth, so this was a big deal to me. Once they sat me down, everything happened pretty quickly. First, I was given laughing gas, then I was hooked up to the moniter and IV. And once my mouth was numb, they started the extraction. I was very relaxed, though I could feel a little (but not enough to give any trouble). I listened to my mp3 player, but that did not stop me from hearing the teeth come out. Yuck. I remember all of this, though it is blurry. Once finished (a half an hour later...I'm not sure), I was very woozy and even after laying down, they took me to the car in a wheelchair. I was so out of it, I was glad to be wheeled down, though I didn't care for the attention (not that it mattered...few people saw me). Last time I was offered a wheelchair was 3 1/2 years ago when I had my head injury at school...but that's a different story because being wheeled in a chair at high school would've been absolutely horrifying (besides, I wasn't even dizzy then). Anyways, by the time I got in the car, the numbness on my right side was completely gone and I was in quite a lot of pain. Back at home, I hurried and ate a few bites of yogurt so I could take my pain medication (some sort of narcotic). The first several hours was rather nasty with me spitting up left-over blood, constantly icing, and feeling some pain despite the medicine. Right now, I'm on both pain medicine and antibiotics and feeling a bit better. Still feeling very woozy...particularly when I stand up and walk around. But as long as I keep taking my medicine every four hours, I'm not in any terrible pain. I spent almost the entire day watching TV...only reality shows are on now, and while it's a bit amusing it gets tiring after awhile (though I sadly admit I enjoyed the Victoria Beckham show...I guess even after all those years, I'm still a Spice Girls fan at heart ;) ). So,  I switched to reading Harry Potter after awhile...I still have a ways to go before finishing. I think I should definitely be better for the most part by Wednesday, but I am glad I decided to take that day off work...it'll give me an extra chance to get things done around the house, plus more time to recover in case any problem emerge. Wooh...yes, I'm still feeling pretty funky at the moment.

And following Jay's request, a report on food:

I haven't done any experimenting really since I'm still quite out of it, but my mom suggested I should definitely try new things once I'm feeling better. Some of the simple things I've had is yogurt, pudding, and jello. I've had quite a bit of the typical chocolate milkshake...quite tasty indeed. For dinner, I had something called a blended pizza (I actually considered blending a real piece of pizza, but that's not how it went). The ingredients contained tomato sauce, a slice of white bread, American cheese, parmesan cheese, pepperoni, olives, bell peppers, and onions all blended together. Quite tasty. Tomorrow I'll definitely go for the smoothies. For fruit, I have strawberries, bananas, and pears...I think I'll go after the strawberries first (the pears need time to ripen anyways).

And before I finish, I'm stealing the meme from Di, as I'm sadly addicted to them:

1. What bill do you hate paying the most?:
Haha, I don't have to pay bills yet. And I'm most definitely not looking forward to the day that I will have to...

2. Where was the last place you had a romantic dinner?
I've never had a romantic dinner. <---- same same

3. Last time you puked from drinking?
never...I've never even been drunk

4. When is the last time you got drunk and danced on a bar?
look above. One day this will probably change...I'm just not big on underage drinking.

5. Name your ur first grade teacher?
Mrs. Jennings. Have any of you guys watched or read the Magic School Bus? She was just like Mrs. Frizzle (except she was older and lacked the red hair).

6. What do you really want to be doing right now?
Well, I'd rather be up and about than feeling all weird...

7. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
Oh, different things... The first thing I remember was I wanted to be a teacher, then in sixth grade I though about being a doctor (too much medical TV drama, lol). In junior high, I really wanted to be an archeologist because I love history and would love to dig for stuff...but then I realised how much science was involved (all that half-life crap is confusing...), so I abandoned the idea. For a short time, I thought about writing or screenwriting, but then sometime right before I entered high school I decided that filmmaking is where I was destined to be, being the film buff I am.

8. How many colleges did/do you attend?
one- Emerson College

9. Why did you wear the shirt that you have on right now?
I'm wearing plaid capris and layered tank tops because that's what I wore to the surgery and it's comfortable

10. GAS PRICES?
Too expensive, even though they are going down. Luckily, my parents pay for my gas. When I'm done with school, I'd prefer to live in a place where a car is not required. I find that walking and using public transportation in Boston is so convenient.

11. If you could move anywhere and take someone with you?
I don't know who I'd take (my pets?), but I would choose to move across the Atlantic. And hey- I am moving there in six months...even if it's very very temporary.

12. First thought when the alarm went off this morning?
I didn't wake up to my alarm...my dad woke me up instead. But my first thought was, Damnit!

13. Last thought before going to sleep last night?
I was whining to myself about how I so didn't want to go through with the surgery...but I guess it wasn't quite as bad as I thought it'd be.

14. Favorite style of underwear?
Bikini. I can't see how girls love thongs so much (I'd find it uncomfortable...besides, I don't have the right bod), and I absolutely hate high cut underwear when jeans happen to be so low these days...

15. Favorite style of underwear for the opposite sex?
Boxers, definitely. Briefs are well...eww.

16. What errand/chore do you despise?
handwashing dishes and mopping....and I will have nothing to do with cleaning animal poop/vomit.

17. If you didn't have to work, would you volunteer at an art gallery?
I don't think so...I'd rather just paint myself than stare at paintings

18. Get up early or sleep in?
Sleep in, most definitely.

19. What is your favorite cartoon character?
Hmm...I don't know. I haven't watch cartoons in years...

20. Favorite NON sexual thing to do at night with a girl/guy?
Talk, talk, talk

21. A secret that you wouldn't mind everyone knowing?
Hmm...well, I hate how I look. Trying on swimsuits yesterdays, I resolved that I should never go swimming again because of how terrible I look in a suit. I hate being so self-conscious...and I'm trying to gather the determination to eat healthier (once I can eat solids again) and exercise more, but it's just so hard...

22. When did you first start feeling old?
I don't feel old...I still consider myself a kid, and probably will until I turn 21. Ask me after that...

23. Favorite 80's movie?
Back to the Future, Splash, Goonies

24. Your favorite lunch meat?
turkey

25. What do you get every time you go into Sam's Club?
That's an interesting term choice...you mean Wal-Mart, right? Hmm...it must've been less than a week ago...

26. Beach or lake?
beach

27. Do you think marriage is an outdated ritual that was invented?
No, I think marriage can be beautiful if the couple is ready for commitment and right for each other. As I've mentioned before, I think marriage is rushed too often and for the wrong reasons. Why do so many find marriage absolutely necessary? There is a reason the divorce rate is so high...

28. Favorite guilty pleasure?
hmm...ice cream and chocolate

29. Favorite movie you wouldn't want anyone to find out about?
I don't have any embarrassing favourites, but I do love/own several bad movies...can't list them all

30. What's your drink?
Diet Coke

31. Cowboys or Indians?
I don't know...

32. Cops or Robbers?
Robbers...because being bad is fun.

33. Who from high school would you like to run into?
Well, only year after graduating, high school is still pretty fresh for me. I still actually see a lot of old classmates (it's funny how some "popular" kids will actually say hi to you and ask how you're doing). I guess if I had to choose, probably my only guy friend Hans. A geeky and brilliant guy with a unique sense of humour, he was one of those people who made an effort to be friends with me back in my sophmore year...I saw less and less of him as the years went on. I wonder how he's doing...

35. What radio station is your car radio tuned to right now?
I listen to several stations, but my favourite is 105.9

36. Favorite coffee?
I don't drink coffee

37. The Cosby Show or the Simpsons?
The Simpsons...I can't wait for the movie :D

38. Worst relationship mistake that you wish you could take back?
I've never had one...yes, I'm the last of my friends who haven't dated. I used to share this lonely feeling with a closer friend until she got a boyfriend this year, and she's really into him (I admit I'm jealous). I think there's one friend left who hasn't dated yet either, but I've been unable to get in contact with her all summer...

39. Do you like the person who sits directly across from you at work?
I work in a movie theatre...no one sits across from me. But I'll tell you about my favourite person at work: He's 16, flamboyantly gay, loves film, and is into some weird and dark stuff (which in my opinion, is pretty cool). He reminds me of the stereotypical Emerson student, which makes me feel less homesick for Boston. I keep telling him he should apply as a film major at Emerson...he would totally fit in.

As for my least favourite person, I've already discussed him...

40. If you could get away with it, who would you kill?
I'm not a killer, but if I could feel no guilt about such an act... Umm...I think people who know me well enough would know my choice (just guess ;) )

41. What famous person(s) would you like to have dinner with?
Johnny Depp :P

42. What famous person would you like to sleep with?
Umm...the celebrities I find attractive are so much older than me, so I've never considered that. I guess I should take a closer look at younger hot celebrities...

43. Have you ever had to use a fire extinguisher for its intended purpose?
nope

44. Last book you read for real?
The Silmarillion. I'm currently reading the sixth Harry Potter book.

45. Do you have a teddy bear?
Too many...and so many more other stuffed animals that I don't have space for...

46. Strangest place you have ever brushed your teeth?
I don't know...outdoors I guess when I go camping

47. Somewhere in California you've never been and would like to see?
I've been through a lot of California, actually. San Diego, I guess...

48. Number of texts in a day?
I don't really text that often.

49. At this point in your life would you rather start a new career or a new relationship, friendship or romantic?
Well, I'm not ready to start a new career until I finish college, so at this point, I'd prefer a romantic relationship simply because I've never had one. It's one thing to hear about couples in high school and miss out on all the special dances, but in college you actually get a closer look on intimate relationships (often receiving too much information), and I admit, I can't help but feel jealous that I haven't been able to relate or experience that sort of joy of being with someone you truly care about. Please, please...I don't want to be an old maid. I need at least one relationship before I complete college (stupid shyness)..
And now, I need to go ice my mouth because my mom's been bothering me about it, plus it's already a bit puffy..
