Film, Papers, and Europe

OMG!!! Saw Grindhouse Friday. Fucking amazing. An ingenious work of filmmaking. Two films in one, plus a bunch of ridiculous fake trailers. Both films are way over-the-top with violence and gore...which makes it awesome. There are parts that are way cheesy that makes the whole thing funny. The continuity is purposely done poorly (for example, a car ( Read more... )

Wow. You coming to Europe is VERY cool. What's it for?

My friends and I always laugh when Americans say "have you been to Europe?" because it implies the cultures are all the same and what have you. I'll let you off because you have a very good idea of individual places in Europe... Moreso than me, anyway.

Regarding visas, I'm not sure you'll need one. Visas tend to be imposed on countries that don't get along, and the U.S. and most of Europe are on pretty friendly terms.

Oh... I just looked this up. Apparently America is pretty strict about visas going in. But since you're going OUT of America, and since most of Europe is quite relaxed, I don't think you'll need them. I just checked, you don't need one to come to the UK at any rate. You'll need to check for each country I think. Anyway, I'll stop rambling now... :)

Also, you'll be over from February to June-ish, right? When (if) you come to Oxford, you could meet me and Ang (presuming we get the grades to get in). Though I don't really know you terribly well, we have 10 months to get to know each other. :P I think Lommy and Noggie are coming around Feb-time as well. And I see if... You HAVE to come to Oxford. It's only like 50 miles from London. And it's the centre of all Tolkiendom.

It's never too early to start planning something like this! Just make sure you don't overplan it or fill up every weekend or something.

I got into one of the study abroad programs for my school...Kasteel Well (which means I get to live in a castle...hurray). I'll be there from mid-January to the end of April, though I'm hoping I can stay longer for the summer.

I was looking at my school's site and I think we're staying just under 90 days, so technically I might not need one. But if I want to stay at all in the summer, I will most definitely have to get one. Apparently, it's required for any Americans staying in the Schengen Region more than 90 days (Denmark being one of those countries...damnit). I'm not sure how to go about this (or if I even can), but I'll certainly try.

And I'd love to meet you! Ooh...there are so many Downers I'd love to visit. Did you know Amanaduial the Archer might be going to Oxford as well? The idea of a BDer meeting is so exciting.

Heh...I probably will be traveling almost every weekend, but I have a feeling I won't have these trips planned until last minute (well, as last minute as possible for a student to plan). Anyways, when it comes to meeting BDer...I'm putting that as a priority. :D

To get a visa, you have to get in touch with the Embassy of that country in the US. I think you may even have to go for an interview, which will be annoying in a country the size of the US... But check out embassy websites, they'll tell you what to do next.
