Well, I've survived my first month at school. The students continue to be pretty good (you always have a few trouble students, but this year nothing too glaring so far), and I have been able to keep on top of my lesson plans and grading for the most part without too much stress. The hardest thing was only having about a one hour window after school in which to get all my work done every day, because daycare won't take Nora until 7, and so I arrive right as the students are being let in the building. Then I have to pick her up by 4:30, so I had about an hour after school before I had to "make some baby food" and then pick her up. So last week Nora started formula during the day at daycare, and I only nurse her in the morning and after school. Andrew volunteered to take her to daycare for me on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well, so I can eek out another half hour or so of work in the mornings 2 days a week, and that seems to be doing the trick.
Speaking of Nora, she continues to be the joy of our lives. She now eats carrots, sweet potatoes, squash (which she likes), peas (she hates), apples and peaches (likes), bananas (she tolerates, but I think she's allergic to-she got a wicked diaper rash from them), and rice cereal (her favorite). We only have pears and green beans left to introduce and then we'll have worked our way through all of the stage 1 foods (except prunes...I'm not even going there). She has become a champ at sitting up on her own, and LOVES to sit on blanket and play with toys. She's getting so good at picking up things and chewing on them that she can put her own pacifier in her mouth without help...about 50% of the time when she tries. She also sprouted her first tooth about 2 weeks ago, and it's working its way through.
Whoops-she's awake. Gotta go.
