Aside from the attacks, life has been pretty upside down in its own right.
I moved into a new apartment last Tuesday. After 5 years of living with housemates (the last 3.5 yrs of which were spent with ~10 housemates) it feels exceptionally strange to be living alone. The extra space (2 bed/2bath) is great, but I kind of miss being able to just walk downstairs and chat with whoever's in the common areas. Of course, I now live in an apartment building with 24 of my fellow teachers, so there's still plenty of opportunity to be social. But it's a bit different to actually knock on someone's door to be social. You don't know if you're interrupting or if they're busy or whatever. It just feels so much more formal.
I got hit by a fever (101 +/-) yesterday that knocked me down pretty decently. I spent yesterday watching ST: Enterprise because I never actually finished it when it came out. (I think I moved overseas.) 6 episodes is a lot for one day, but when you have a fever, it takes a lot of energy to even do that. It seemed to be a 24 hr bug almost to the hour, though, and it's gone this morning. Still a bit nauseous, so I'm not eating much at all. But it's definitely better to have the fever gone.
My bags finally arrived in Kabul last night, or so I'm told. It's Friday today, which is the weekend and hard to do anything, so I'll go tomorrow and try to get them. Fortunately, since I live here, I have clothes and such, so there isn't anything in the bags which I direly need. (Although my textbooks for the masters course are in there, and the new course starts Sunday, so I'll need them then.)
