“What was in the cowboy hat?” Temperance Brennan is walking with Booth to their car, and she's sick of the way her partner has been looking inside the cowboy hat in his office, giggling like it's filled with all his heavenly desires. Brennan hates not knowing almost as much as she hates Booth refusing to explain, and that's exactly what he's been doing. Every time she's asked after the contents of the hat over the past three weeks, he's refused to share.

Booth groans, slapping a hand over his face. “You're still on about that stupid hat?”

Brennan quirks a brow, she's unused to her partner asking stupid questions. “Of course I still want to know! You never explained it to me Booth, and I'm a scientist: every aspect of my life is bound in curiosity. At this point in our relationship, you should already know that about me.”

“I do know that about you Bones,” Booth moans, “which is why I'm sick of you asking ( ... )

Eeeee, Bones fic! This gets their voices so well, with Brennan just totally not getting so much but managing to communicate anyway.

“Meaning I'm hideous and I'd be single my whole life?” Yes. Yes, Booth, you're hideous, absolutely. *eyeroll*
