HAPPYFEST III
Yup, this is it, folks, the complete list of prompts for this year's Happyfest. The rules haven't changed from last year, the first of which is:
READ THE RULES BEFORE WRITING!
(there are notes about spoilers that I NEED you to read)
(
The rest are under here )
The chances of actually running into anyone were slim. After all, with a whole new dimension inside to explore, how likely was he to run into the only two people he had to share it with? So when he literally ran into Rose, knocking her over in the process, he was just a little bit surprised.
"Good morning," Jack said as he offered his hand to help her up. Rose looked at it, laughed, and stood up on her own.
"It'd be a little better if I hadn't been knocked on my arse first thing," she said, poking her tongue through her lips in the way only Rose Tyler can. Jack started to speak, but she wasn't finished. "Of course, if I had to be knocked over by someone, I suppose I'm not too disappointed it's you."
"Right," Jack said, expecting to be apologizing; flirting came much more naturally, and he was happy to oblige. "Who better to run into than me? You'd be hard-pressed to have a better sight first thing in the morning.”
"You're so full of it." Rose laughed. It was true, what she said, but somehow it worked perfectly for him. Almost charming, even. "Come on, I've got somewhere to show you. Fancy breakfast?"
Jack nodded, and Rose took his hand and led him down the hall. She navigated the corridors expertly while Jack could hardly keep track of where they were, and a few minutes later, she pushed open a door to the most magnificent garden Jack had ever seen.
Everything in bloom - lilies and daffodils and tulips and cherry trees and even the roses. Plants he couldn't name from worlds he'd never seen were interspersed amongst the familiar Earth ones. A few that even looked like they grew on frozen planets. Impressive technology that could keep hundreds of flowers from hundreds of worlds in bloom at the same time.
“I found it my first day here. Thought maybe you’d like to do the same,” Rose asked as she led him towards a small black table just to the left of where they entered. “It’s just gorgeous.”
"Yeah," Jack said as he took in the view for a moment more before turning to Rose. "Just like you."
"Breakfast?" Rose said, pointing down at the table already full of food, including a small basket of chips that Rose eagerly snatched up.
"That's what you pick?" Jack smiled at her. “Not exactly breakfast.”
"It's always time for chips somewhere."

HEE. And I love the garden - it reminds me of Terry Pratchett.

Thanks! I know we weren't supposed to use all the prompts listed, and I totally did...this little snippet just popped into my mind with the garden and breakfast and chips. Couldn't help myself. :) So I'm glad you liked the garden idea!

The only thing of his that I've read is Good Omens, which I read because Neil Gaiman is my hero. :)
