There's no space on the bus; nowhere for Baekhyun to sit, and he keeps getting shoved around even though there's no other place for him to go--he gets shoved so hard he almost falls over, and decides to just go with the flow, falling onto some stranger's lap. The reaction he receives is better than expected.
Baekhyun really just wanted to be home already. It was seven o'clock on a rather damp Tuesday night, and the bus arrived several minutes late, much to his (already great deal of) annoyance.
If that weren't bad enough, there was a vast shortage of space; very few open spots-none of them were seats.
He pressed forward, lucky enough to be the first on the bus but unlucky in that moments after he began walking, there were the first signs of unrest and impatience-he was getting shoved forward.
As soon as he reached the very back, he assumed he would be safe, but people were still pushing their way through onto the bus, even though the driver was ordering them to “cease boarding; there'll be another bus in ten minutes”.
Baekhyun turned out to be incorrect, a thing that he was rather used to being, but hated all the same.
There was another shove. He was moved to the side a bit, on the verge of falling, but by this point he was so irritated and so sick of dealing with the discourtesies of others that he just allowed himself to fall, directly into another passenger’s lap.
He knew precisely which passenger it was, too… The one with the rather blank face, yet... he still happened to have startlingly kind eyes. Even with that black cap pulled low on his face, Baekhyun had still caught a glimpse of such eyes, because they had lifted to his as soon as he had mumbled some remark about shoving everyone back, and off of the bus entirely.
So, yes, Baekhyun was now perched on the lap of a stranger, surprised that quite a few seconds had passed without any form of complaint.
Instead, a simple question was directed towards him, directed… Directly in his ear. He was ashamed to say that he shivered, even if just a little.
“Why aren't you getting up?”
Well, why aren't you getting it up? I'm squirming around on your lap, for God’s sake. No one can resist my perky ass-
“Hello?”
“There are no empty seats on this bus,” Baekhyun blurted out. “It's either violate someone or be violated myself; people keep pushing against me-”
“Isn't that kind of selfish?” Was the next thing murmured in his ear.
“Well… Only if you actually mind me sitting here. Otherwise… No.” A brief pause. “Do you mind?”
He twisted around a bit, trying to get the stranger’s face in view, but all he succeeded in doing was earning a low hiss from the man beneath him.
“If you keep moving, yes, I'll mind.”
“Only if I keep moving?” Baekhyun purposely wiggled around a little bit. Fingernails pressed into his waist, harshly, and he was ashamed to say that he immediately went still.
“Don't test me.” The man grumbled, normally not one to put up with other people’s shit. It was a miracle in itself that he was allowing this complete stranger to fucking sit on him.
“So, what's your name?” Baekhyun readjusted a bit and the passenger rolled his eyes. This guy wasn't one for following directions. Or following societal expectations and etiquette.
“Kyungsoo.” He mumbles, surprised that he's actually cooperating.
“I'm Baekhyun.” He cranes his neck, trying to meet Kyungsoo’s eyes, but then settles for awkwardly reaching a hand back.
Kyungsoo snorts, but accepts it nevertheless. How could he reject a handshake when they're already apparently close enough for Baekhyun to be sitting in his lap?
There's a bump, and Baekhyun sort of jolts forward, but Kyungsoo stops his movement by sliding an arm around his stomach. He leaves it there, even after the bus is moving more smoothly, and Baekhyun is uncharacteristically quiet for a moment.
“Where are you headed?” He pipes up, after a few minutes have passed. Kyungsoo turns his head to the side and rests it against Baekhyun’s back, feeling rather exhausted after such a long day.
“Home.” He whispers, annoyed because it will be at least ten more minutes until he gets there. His legs will probably be asleep by then, dead, even though he himself can't sleep entirely until later that night.
“And where is that?”
Kyungsoo hesitates, not exactly wishing to withhold such information, but wondering why he feels so comfortable with the whole situation.
He's hesitant, because he seems so willing to answer any and all questions Baekhyun asks him, and he wonders why, when he's only really “known” him for several minutes.
“After two more stops.” He swallows, lifting his head from Baekhyun’s back. It's too intimate a position for near-strangers. He retracts his arm from Baekhyun’s waist as well. “I'm a several minute walk south from there. North Highland Street.”
“Oh, really?” There's a light, pleasant tone to Baekhyun’s voice. Pleasant and pleased. “I'm just the next street over! North Hudson Street!”
Kyungsoo stiffens beneath him. He feels… somewhat awkward. That means… He could run into Baekhyun in the future. Or that… He may have seen him around before, honestly.
“That's crazy,” he replies, but he doesn't sound surprised at all. Rather… Somewhat blank. He's not sure what to think.
“I could walk you home~” Baekhyun teases.
Another bump. Baekhyun squeaks a little as he tries to stay seated as well as keep ahold of his things, and Kyungsoo internally sighs as he has to grab ahold of Baekhyun’s hips to keep him stable.
“If you really wanted to, I suppose you could…” Kyungsoo laughed quietly, something he didn't do often. “But that seems rather… Unlikely.”
“Why is that?”
Kyungsoo lifts his chin, rests it on Baekhyun’s shoulder. It is only now that he notices the inquisitive stares, but they don't seem to bother him much.
The weight on his lap, however, is beginning to bother him quite a bit.
“Uh.” He readjusts Baekhyun on his lap, although Baekhyun has been readjusting himself on his own periodically, with little pause in between each instance. “Because we just met?”
“So?” Baekhyun leans back against the man’s chest, turning his head slightly to glance at Kyungsoo.
Their faces are too close. Baekhyun’s gaze is too honest and earnest and clear. Kyungsoo has to tilt his own head in the opposite direction.
“I'm interested in you.” Baekhyun says, not even bothering to lower his voice. “Don't you like me sitting in your lap?”
There is a teasing lilt to his voice. He already knows the answer. It's… rather obvious. A bit… hard. To ignore.
Kyungsoo’s own voice grows rather serious, and is quite a bit softer. “If all you want is to go home with me, then I'm going to have to say no…”
“What do you mean?” Baekhyun shifts in his lap, turns to the side. Meets Kyungsoo’s gaze straight on. “You're not attracted to me?”
“That's clearly untrue,” Kyungsoo snorts, lowering his head-his cap shields his eyes from view. “I just… I'm not one for… You know. Spontaneous… Ahem. Meetings. That sort of thing. I like to know someone first. …Date them, first.”
Kyungsoo can feel the intensity of Baekhyun’s gaze even though he can't see it.
“Fair enough.” Baekhyun nods, thoughtfully, swiveling back around to face the way he was before. “Let's go on a date, then. You seem nice enough. And your thighs are super comfortable, even though they feel somewhat firm. I like that.”

They get off the bus at the same stop. Kyungsoo’s legs are dead. Baekhyun walks (helps) Kyungsoo home. Kyungsoo invites Baekhyun inside for awhile… They chat. They exchange numbers. And then, they agree to meet up the following evening.

Kyungsoo can't say that he always dreamed of meeting his soulmate on public transportation, but here they are, several dates later, and Baekhyun’s obnoxious, shameless nature is exactly what attracts Kyungsoo to him.
Baekhyun sets his fork down, hard, speaking through a half-chewed mouthful of food.
“So… when exactly do we get to bang?”
He takes it back.
