Semester II

Jan 11, 2008 01:11

Monday was the first day back to classes. This semester will be a difficult one, but that's to be expected I suppose. I'm taking a class on Neoplatonism, Christianity in the 4th and 5th centuries, Issues and Approaches in the Study of the Hebrew Bible, and intensive Lain grammar with one of my professors. As long as I don't let myself get behind I should be ok, but I feel like I'm already behind. Oh, I'm also a TA for Introduction to the New Testament. That will be quite a bit of work not just because the class is about 80 or 90 students, but the professor for the class asks a lot from his TAs. I suppose I can't really complain because that is my job and I really like this professor, so it's not so bad.

Oh, I went to a kick boxing class tonight at the rec center! It was a lot of fun, but I am really out of shape. I just don't have a lot of stamina so I did half-ass a lot of the jumping jacks and the in-between stuff, but I really enjoyed the actual punching and kicking. Potentially I could go every Thursday but the whole thing is really time consuming so I don't know that I'll actually be able to go every week.

Hopefully Stephen and I will get to actually socialize this weekend! We might go play this awesome game called Settlers of Catan with one of my colleagues and his wife. Or maybe we'll go get some yummy Mexican food and icy margaritas with a different colleague and his wife. Yeah, all of my new friends are married men, ha. Luckily their wives are fun and I'm becoming friends with them too.

Break was so much fun and it was really hard to leave Kansas. I wish I had had more time to see more people. Every day was booked with activities and yet I feel like there was so much I didn't get to do. I did get to go shopping with my mom and that was a lot of fun. I tried again in vain to find some slacks. I think my mom had a little too much fun laughing at how badly all of them fit me. If you didn't know the pants were women's you'd swear that I was wearing my dad's slacks. If any of you out there know where to find slacks that don't have gigantic baggy thighs and butts, please for the love of God let me know. My waist is a lot wider than me thighs are large. I'm the complete opposite of the pear shape, which seems to be the basic pattern for all pants.

Ok, I need to finish my reading. I hope everyone who is still on break is relaxing and as for the working folk, there ain't no war but the class war!

Wow, I need sleep.

Later!
