alright, I don't mean to go all emotional on you guys, but I really thought I should share this :)
As most of you probably know, i'm a camp counselor this summer. I work with 5 year olds for 8 hours a day. It ain't always easy.
One of my kids has autism, or downs syndrome, I don't know-not really sure. The point is, as some of you may put it, is he's special.
In the pool, one of my other kids was playing with him the entire time. 2 hours. They just splashed eachother, and hugged eachother, and she would talk to him even though he didn't really respond. When I thanked her for being so nice to him, she said "He's my friend. You don't thank me for playing with anyone else-why should he be different?"
No lie. Exact words.
You learn alot from 5 year olds.
