Sometimes I despair that even my demons are as useless as the angels and humans I put up with. And then an enterprising demon like Thammuz attempts to usurp me, take my rule in Hell. He challenged me, claiming to be stronger than I ( Read more... )

Fascinating. *looks skeptical*
If you are so powerful that no one can challenge you
successfully, why trouble with 'reminders'?

Because I have better things to do with my time than be constantly punishing demons who think, foolishly, that they can take my place. Or perhaps it's just the sound of screaming I enjoy.

Since they can't win a fight in any event--or so you claim--it would save more time to let them try and fail, and be destroyed
than to work elaborate 'punishments' that only serve to feed your
delusions.
I'd have thought an alleged immortal would have had the brains, or at least experience, to come up with a better 'hobby' than noise. Your average Spinal Tap drummer can pull that off.

Have you ever heard an angel, fallen or otherwise, scream? No? Well, I'll forgive your ignorance this once. It's a beatiful sound, you know.

You humans. I love how you think you know what's right and wrong.

*raises eyebrows*
You'll forgive-?
I'll pass, thanks.
Right and wrong isn't a matter of knowledge, it's faith. *pitying* I don't expect you to understand, either.

*laughs lowly* Faith? I understand faith. Don't particularly care for it, but I've known it since creation began. An exercise in wilfull ignorance and blind belief.

An exercise in life without fear, without hate.To take hope
as a living, growing aspect of existence. You've chosen to
discard that opportunity. *coolly* And you call humans blind?
We can't match you, I do concede that. Humans who show arrogance
of that magnitude have short lives.

Humans have short lives no matter how they act.

Let me ask you a question. How do you know God is benevolent? How do you know He loves you?

How do I know that anyone loves me? No, it's not quantifiable.
I judge by their words, or actions. You said yourself, 'from creation'. One doesn't create and sustain a universe full of life, human and otherwise, without passion or loving care.

*grim chuckle, thinking to herself*

(If God wasn't benevolent, "Lucifer," you'd have long since been incinerated. He's allowed you choice, too, though no doubt you'd have a smart answer for that as well.)

Oh no. Of course not. He wouldn't do it because He's bored or because He has His plan. No, He must love you. You know, tyrants tell their people that they love them.

How naive of you. I would give you the correct answer, but you're obviously one of those humans who simplify everything. And reality is far too complex for me to explain properly to any human, let alone one such as yourself.

Oh, I didn't say He asks nothing of us or expects nothing. However, I find it rather less...insane...to trust One who says so openly, than
somebody who seems to take to torture and killing as cures for his
boredom. Who prefers to nurse old grudges childishly to , oh, horror of horrors, giving a 'mere mortal's' words or beliefs any thought.

I've heard all your words and beliefs before. From angels, saints and martyrs. From the Son. It's tedious listening to the same foolish argument again and again.

((OOC: Night. Never mind Lucifer calling Scully ignorant, he says that to everyone he meets. ))

Perhaps the saying 'those who don't learn from the past are doomed to repeat the bastard' is one you should contemplate.

((oh, understood! No offense taken. Scully's just not one to pass up an argument. Snarky little bitca.))

Perhaps you should contemplate not irritating someone who's considering setting that pretty red hair of yours on fire.

Most of my acquaintances would say I'm nowhere near as irritating as I can be.
And let's not even get into the subject of appearances. *eyes you disdainfully* You would NOT come out the winner. Is this really the form you chose?
