So help me God, I don't know why this is funny.
But it is. Possibly because it's 3:22 in the blasted morning as I begin writing this. Possibly because I may have done considerable damage to my brain earlier by watching the WORST ANIME MOVIE EVER (thank you, G!).
For you brash, foolish souls that want to know, it was Defenders of Universe. Not Defenders of THE Universe, mind you. Just Defenders of Universe. On a side note, it wasn't *really* anime because it was originally produced stateside. That's right, article-deficient title and all. I didn't see even ONE Japanese name roll by in the opening credits. Subtitles were not even an option. My only guess is that they left the title incorrect intentionally to make it look Japanese so that people would mistake it for anime and not something that was, visually speaking, kind of like the bastard lovechild of Voltron and Home Movies. I would compare the script to the mangled translation of the clip that started the "All Your Base Are Belong To Us" craze, but that would actually be more of an insult to the creators of Zero Wing. The same could be said of the voice acting. I kid you not.
It was easily the most rancid piece of awful I have ever seen, and hot damn if I didn't almost die laughing. Seriously, end-to-end the hits just keep coming. I couldn't be that funny if I tried, and neither could you.
