Money Money Money, must be funny in a rich man's world

Since getting back to the UK (just over a month ago now - eek) I seem to have done nothing but spend money. It's pretty much all been necessary stuff like food for my horse and re-imbursing my dad for things like my car's MOT and tax disc and buying food so I can eat, but I'm definitely glad I don't have to do much in the way of Christmas presents.

I've got a DVD for my brother and I'll get a bottle of wine each for a few horsey friends who have helped me out this year but otherwise I think that'll be pretty much it. I didn't have a clue what to get my dad and I only saw him for about 3 days last week so given that he and his wife go to France on Friday until the New Year I've kinda missed the boat with that one.

My dad's not in my good books at the moment though because while he was home, having not seen me for about 4 months, he decides to tell me that he no longer wants to pay the rent for my horse at the yard where we keep him! He's been paying it for nearly 8 years (since my mum died) but he's decided now that enough is enough and that I should be paying for it. *So* not impressed. He's written a couple more cheques for the next two months to give me time to get sorted but that means that the first payment I make will be on my birthday. Joy.

With this lovely news sinking in you can imagine how pleased I was to get a letter in the post today telling me that my car insurance needed to be paid! Again, I'm so glad I don't have Christmas presents/trees/lunches etc to worry about.

Not much else is happening here what with being the only one in the house, but at least that enables me to play my guitar for as long as I want at any time of day or night and I only have to worry about me. Job hunting isn't getting very far but now that I have a big incentive to get a job and I've actually updated my CV I can go round to shops in Cheshire Oaks and Chester and see if they want an extra pair of hands for the January sales etc.

Christmas will basically be a non-event for me as usual especially given that both my dad and my brother are away but I'm making up for it at New Year which will be awesome fun. 11 days til we head up to Scotland and I can't wait. Much merriment will be had by all and it'll be a much needed break for us all too.

Hope everyone else is OK and not suffering too much with the stress and panic of the lead up to Christmas.
