The last couple of days with Cadigan have been really good. This weekend was warm enough we could go to the park and play. We visited a day school for a possible pre K and we will be visiting the other one that got back to us Thursday. His weight is back up, he was sick with colds for a month and dropped 6lbs, which is awesome for an adult but scary for a 2 year old. Its a fifth of his body weight.
On Saturday Chelsea, Cadigan and I went to Mi Ranchito for dinner. Its a great Mexican food restaurant attached to a auto repair place. We have been a bunch of times and it is always busy; well the one on 95th is the one that is closer to our house is not and for good reason. The staff is not that great at that location, the original location has the best service and the nicest people working there.
Anyway, we got there and there was a 15 min wait so we were in the back playing with Cadigan waiting for our buzzer to go off. When it did go off I told Cadigan that we had to go because we had won and it was our turn to eat. Cadigan then grabbed the buzzer, held it over his head, and screamed "I WON!!!!" and sprinted to the front of the restaurant still screaming "I won!" The waitress was laughing and running in front of Cadigan telling him to follow her. It was great.
I'm writing this because I need to remember things like this instead of all the tantrums. Cadigan is at the age where he is starting to test all his boundaries and has epic meltdowns when he is denied. We are the parents you need to be when this happens. We do not feed his tantrums and we do not give in, however I am learning the limits to my patients and have to remind myself that he is 2 (for a few more weeks) and that this will pass.
