Contacted a couple of different plumbers for quotes to fix the main drain today. Found one that did payments (Thankfully!) and they will becoming tomorrow to start the excavation of our line and repair. It should only take them a day or two complete the job hopefully they will have the line repair tomorrow and just finish the concrete work on Friday.
I hope I can get some pictures of it seeing as they are going to be removing 400 cubic feet of dirt from in front of my house. They are making a 8'x5'x10' (LxWxH) hole! Turns out that that our drain drops 9' to the sewer below. Things I learned today about repairing sewer lines.
1. They are expensive... period. However the deeper they are the more costly the adventure (See $2K cost increase)
2. In Missouri, the city is responsible from the cur to the sewer. This is important for the neighborhood where the sewer is underneath the city street. In Kansas, the city is responsible for the sewer and that's it. So if I had lived in a neighborhood where the sewer was in the street and that is were the break was I, ME!, would have to pay for the repair to the street. (see $10K cost increase).
3. I'm so very grateful that I do not live in a neighborhood where the sewer is underneath the city street.
Also I have just started applying for part-time work tonight. I have applied to the liquor store just down the road because they are looking for evening and weekend help. So hopefully I get another job soon. Its weird to say(type?) that out loud, but I hate the fact I feel I am doing more of a disservice to my family by not having a second job already. I need to figure out a budget for us and stick to it. It sounds easy but at the same time I do not stay one top of these things or follow them because they very rarely allow for playing. At least at first.
I'm amazed at the people who have figured out this part of their life's. Like its some magical trick or slight of hand that I can not seem to reenact I know the mechanics of what you are suppose to do however I lack the discipline.
