Rant (soooo Not Safe For Work it's not funny.....)

Aug 07, 2007 16:15

This is prompted by Saoili's questions:

1) Would you sleep with a girl on a first date?
2) Would the fact that she was willing / eager to do so put you off a longer term relationship with her?
3) If so would it be because you expected a girl that was such to be more likely to cheat?

This rant is *so* not directed at Saoili, but at the underlying sentiments that prompted those questions (ie the societal issues).

First, my answers:

1) Sure, absolutely. For reasons that I'm not going into on an LJ, I'd prefer not to, but that's about me, not her.

2) I'm going to go with 'Hell no' on this.

3) ..........

This is, in a nutshell, everything that is wrong with man-woman relations the world over: Because the gobshite who had sex with the girl doesn't think any less of HIMSELF for sleeping with her on the first date, but thinks less of her.

Anyone who thinks along these lines is a complete and utter waste of DNA, and should be removed from the gene-pool at the first available opportunity. Preferably with maximum force, exerted via a (marginally rigid) rubber hammer.

I am relatively sure that I do not know any guys who think along those lines.

I am DAMN CERTAIN that I do not want to know any people who think along those lines.

What kind of a fucking moron sleeps with someone, then makes negative judgements about that person because they slept with the moron????? But doesn't apply the same standards to themselves?

This makes me so angry.

This does nothing but exacerbate the existing divide between genders over sex-relations: women as gate-keepers, men as sexual pursuers/conquerors, and forces people of those genders into one of those two roles even if it's against their nature to be in that particular role.

This reinforces the politics of "women who want sex are bad, men who want sex are normal" and all that other bullshit that just fucks people up.

In my opinion, these viewpoints are still heavily ingrained in Ireland (hence the need, by and large, for women to have an excuse to have sex outside of marriage: I was drunk; he was foreign; I was on holiday; etc.. rather than simply admitting that they, too, have a libido), and are archaic leftovers from the oppression of the people by the Church.

If *anyone* expresses these views as 'the way things are meant to be' and that anyone who thinks otherwise is 'immoral': for the good of humanity punch them in the face.

Can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen?

I fucking did, thank you very much, and am significantly happier for it.
