Rant-tastic (NSFW)
Incidentally: stuff like "oh, that person exists merely for you to figure something out about yourself" annoys me beyond all comprehension.
People exist as people. They don't exist merely to orbit one's personal space. They don't exist to 'teach' you any crap. They exist as beings in their own damn right, and should be treated as such.
People who declare that other people are "there to help you grow and see yourself in a new light. And she's there to help you work on your patience and sympathy" make me want to inflict *extreme* amounts of pain.
I think that if you want to use a person's situation to examine yourself: that's cool. Won't hurt. Make a few analogies, see if they hold up, decide if you can learn something from their life-choices vs your life-choices: all perfectly reasonable.
But to declare that 'she's there for x or y', to declare that some arsehole deity is crapping *all* over this human being *just* so you can learn some lesson about life? What the HELL kind of person believes that?!?!?!?
