Is this what we've become?
Skimming over vessel-depth
with the easy shine of epidermal conversation
paying lip service to the broken hearts
and scars we tore open for each other
feigning smiles for the summers past
and the pose-flash-pose rhythm
matching the click of heels on sidewalk stars
I feel like the blonde,
tight-lipped arm candy with her pretty ring
that lost its meaning after
you fell in love
with the sparkle and sound of
another life that maybe
he always kind of was for you
