100 Books in 2010

Jan 01, 2010 22:39

Shouldn't be terribly challenging with my appetite for reading, but I want to do it nonetheless 8D

Rules and Guidelines:
1. Read 100 books or more in 2010.
2. Keep track of how many I read.
3. First time reads only.
4. Leave entry public. If you want to recommend any of your favorites to me, please do so in the comments.

My first thought was HELL EASY...and then I saw 'first time reads only'. D:

Are there even 100 books that I haven't read that I WANT to read? I've averaged 3-4 books a week for the last...10 years? Yeah. >.>

All of Diana Gabaldon. Cross Stitch (or Outlander... I think the US version is called Outlander) is the first. & make sure to read the Sir John spin off novels.
Favouritest Author Ever.

I've missed some Pratchett here and there and I've read the first four Gabaldon books so much they're torn and starting to lose pages but I need to get the Sir John series XD

Top recommendation: M.C.A. Hogarth's books. I can personally recommend "The Worth of a Shell" and "Alysha's Fall" and I've heard nothing but good about her two Kerishdar books. All except "Alysha's Fall" can be found on Amazon. "Alysha's Fall" is available from Maggie herself. Just e-mail her (address is on her website: stardancer.org) and she'll even sign it if you ask!

I'm better at recommending authors so, here are my recommendations if you haven't read them: Piers Anthony (the Xanth novels), Anne McCaffrey (all her books are excellent), John Scalzi (Old Man's War, Ghost Brigade, etc...), Orson Scott Card (the Ender books), L.E. Modesitt (he has an incredible fantasy series), and I'm sure I can think up more if you want me to!

I love Moomin books although I'm sure they're not for everyone. But I really like the atmosphere and philosophy in them. Moominvalley in November is my favourite but Moominpappa at Sea is quite good also. I've read them in Finnish though so I'm not sure how good or bad the English version is.

Ps. I added you as a friend because I've been stalking your journal for a while now, I hope that's ok :)
