Summer Recap

Oct 11, 2010 16:04

I haven't done much posting lately; been real busy around the ranch. Good news, got all my hay in and under cover; this is a good feeling because of the rains we've had.

The summer has gone by and now fall lurks all around with beautiful/colorful leaves falling all around the ranch; truly a magnificent time of year. I've been enjoying some relaxing and watching the play-off games at the Tree House Saloon in Garden Park with friends. I'm of course rooting for the Giants (baseball) 49'ers & Raiders (football); hey I'm a California native.

Fun things I did this summer in recap are: being involved in my "Goldhounds" club, teaching children gold panning with the "Nuggets" group of our club. Enjoying the "Red Hat" ladies affairs and fellowship with our members (our Red Hat MUM passed recently, more on Carol later). I went with my friend Bob to the "Wheeler" family reunion in Roseville and to Woodland to see my Aunt Ruby & Cousin Beverly from Arkansas at Aunt Sandy's house; a good time was had and nice visit. Went to the "Olde Coloma Theatre" 2 times with my girlfriends from the AAMC (American Alliance of Medical Cannabis). I met up with my Cousin (I should say reunited after 46 years) and spent a night at the Foresthill Heritage Days Celebration & State & National Gold Panning Championships with her and her friend John. Used a free-be I won in the raffle to Harveys in Tahoe with my friend Bob; we had a real nice relaxing time & saw the IMPROV Show and laughed our butts off. Had a nice date at the "Red Mule Ranch" in Fiddletown and listened to the "Old West" play their magical music of the old west, Bob and I spent the night in his new (used) motor home. Enjoyed another trip to Tahoe with Cousin Deb and her friend Dave; we shopped and saw a comedy show that was pretty good. Went to a Catholic Church B B Q and listened to "Old West" play; what a treat, 2 times in one year! Attended 2 VERY close friends (Carols funeral) and Stan's Celebration of Life. These were too VERY sad times for me as we shared a cabin together in Dawson City at the "World's Gold Panning Championships in 2008). Stanley was my very BEST friend for all the years I worked at Campbell Soup; he introduced us to the Mother Lode Goldhounds more than 10 years ago. Carol was the head of or "Nuggets" teaching group and MUM or our chapter of the "Red Hats" she and Stan will be missed forever, they touched many peoples life. It took me about 2 months to stop grieving. And most recently Bob and I returned from a fun trip with the Goldhounds to our President & wife's home near our gold mine in Iowa Hill. We had so much fun riding down to the Gleeson and seeing all the Club members mining and having a good time; I hear some did pretty good. The day was absolutely gorgeous and perfect for mining and quading. Bob and I rode 27 miles on the quads toward Yankee Jim's and ended up crossing the North Fork of the American River on an old suspension bridge. I hope to go back and explore some more. My ex Husband and his girlfriend were there too enjoying the festivities and camping out.

In upcoming news; I'll be going to Maui with my friends from work Rosa, Mikki (her Son) and Bob. We'll have a week to explore the island and see the beautiful sights; I'm so anxious. Today I looked up riding stables because we plan on doing some riding to see the beautiful country side.

Combined with trips to Stumpy Meadows, Loon Lake, motorcycle riding, singing and dancing; it has been among my best summer ever.

On the green side; the girls are the biggest ever and smell so sweet. I'd post a picture but can't just yet; maybe after the election.

I'm hoping and supporting a "yes" vote on prop. 19.

I must say this has been a terrific summer and one I'll cherish for a long time. To top things off; today my husband gave me a key to the "Gleeson Diggings"; I was very surprised and happy at the same time. This is a step in the right direction for our salvation as we're trying to work out staying on the same property.

Till next time ~Peace & Love~
