I have been watching so much television! Well, it's a lot for me.
Dancing with the Stars
My grandmother keeps calling me in to watch Dancing with the Stars and she just turned 80 so I cannot resist. It tugs at my heart strings. So my grandmother owns my Monday nights. So yes I watched DwtS live. I'm rooting for Jennifer Grey (of Dirty Dancing fame) and Kyle Massey (who plays Raven Simone's brother on That's So Raven). Those are the two that I would like to see holding the trophy in the end. But I found myself feeling most proud of Bristol Palin (daughter of Sarah Palin) and the Situation (some reality show boyfriend). Bristol is NOT a performer but has a fresh faced innocent joy when she dances. Her dance tonight was like a really well done prom dance. She needs to learn to involve the audience. The Situation is horribly pigeon toed but I could tell he worked really hard.
Hawaii Five-0
I really enjoy the CBS lineup on Monday for the most part. So I recorded Oprah (last season!), How I Met Your Mother, Mike and Molly and Hawaii Five-O. Hawaii Five-O... I need to watch the beginning to be sure but it was pretty meh too. I'm starting to really like the blond guy from Jersey. I still thing they are trying too hard with the friendship/banter between Blond guy and Moonlight guy. There was a very cool knife fight/girl fight in the episode! But overall it was still meh. As the episode was nearing an end I told myself that I would give it one more week. But then there was this touching scene at the end where all the guys give the woman on the team a little intimate police academy graduation ceremony. Oh it touched my heart and I decided to give the show two more weeks to hook me. UNTIL...
Chase
WOW! First of all I'm completely jazzed to watch a show that is set in Texas. I know that Friday Night Lights is set in Texas, but the Pilot of this show was in HOUSTON! I recognized a few of the locations they mentioned. I also have a warm fuzzy feeling when it comes to US Marshals because of The Fugitive film. Boy, Tommy Lee Jones was wonderful in that.
The Pilot begins - perfectly - with a chase. I have to say that I'm very excited about a show with a title that pretty much guarantees a chase scene each week. <3 And the exciting part is, this isn't a car chase, it's a foot chase! So exciting.
The protagonist, Annie, is very very tough and sure of herself. But she looks so much like Kristin Bell. The entire episode I kept on thinking about Veronica Mars and trying to connect the dots between that cute teen and this tough Marshal. The actress who plays Annie seems very familiar to me anyway and I don't think it's all because she could be Kristin Bell's mother/older sister.
The pace of the show was great. The characters are fun and diverse. The mystery was exciting. I thought the writing was pretty good, though it was very proud of being in Texas. LOL! I loved all the getting into the mind of the killer stuff. There are hints about Annie's past/childhood that it'll be fun to see the show explore.
All this is wonderful and I had to agree with
jeannev that the show completely left Hawaii Five-O in the dust. But what sealed the deal was the final chase scene! WOWSA! Annie is completely insane! The killer jumped off a bridge to get away and in goes Annie! Then the guy notices this tiny blond swimming after him and he seems a bit puzzled. He dives under and grabs her and... the fight that these two have, in the BAYOU/RIVER wherever they are, made me fall head over cowboy boots in love with Annie. Oh! So Hawaii Five-0 is back down to a one week trial before I bail. Man oh man.
Nikita
I'm all caught up and this is a good show. Episodes 2 and 3 are better than the Pilot was. It's so annoying watching it on the CW website because it kept on stopping and starting. I'm going to have to figure out a way to record this show or something. I love Nikita. She is well played by Maggie Q. Maggie keeps the cliches away. In the second episode Nikita had a giant gun. That made me really happy. I love the way Alex is working from within while Nikita magically thwarts the Division from the outside. I really like that Division is catching on to the fact that there's gotta be a leak already in the third episode. I wasn't really digging Shane West as a past mentor to Nikita. But he's growing on me. The episodes are fast paced, pretty to look at, there are lots of surprises to keep my on my toes, fights, explosions... it's great.
Other
I watched the first bit of Bones. It didn't really miss anything. Booth and Brennen gave each other a hello hug that was happy but... brief. Then Booth fell all over himself (Booth is incapable of actually falling all over himself I'm just a sad shipper) to show Brennen a picture of his hot girlfriend on his phone. She rejected his love so... whatever. And it would be/is so unrealistic that these two would ever really end up together because of their polar opposite POV on life and philosophy and spirituality BUT I can't help shipping them! There's hope. I saw a clip of the intern that hates people (not the one that loves death, the one that doesn't like to sully the work place with personal life talk) and HE ships Booth and Brennen. The only reason for the writers to tell us this... is if it's going to happen! My hope is renewed.
I haven't watched Raising Hope yet, but I did watch Terriers for some reason I don't know. That show is GOOD! FX really churns out some good shows with great writing. It's about this two scruffy guys. One is a dishonorably discharged ex-cop and the other is an honorable ex-criminal and the investigate stuff... I'm not sure why. For money I guess. It's strange. Why did I start watching it? I don't know. I love it.
Glee's first episode was a downer. I enjoyed the New York number and the guest star's role. I didn't get why the pretty boy with the luscious lips joined the cast until I heard a rumor that he will be Kurt's boyfriend. It's funny because I thought he looked kind of like a cherubic, gay man's fantasy when I saw him. It will be interesting to see how things develop. I hope the next few episodes deal with Rachel and her relationship with the rest of the Glee club.
I was so confused by the Supernatural premiere. I really enjoyed the first part of the episode where Dean was investigating and living a domestic life. That was fun. The Jinn stuff... ??? I liked seeing a team of hunters. I think it would be cool if they could work with the team for part of the season. I think something's up with Sam. Who knows what. Also, Dean is pretty. <3 I went hunting for Dean cooking icons. There are none. *sad face*
The Mentalist was good. I'm trying hard not to ship Jane and Lisbon but it's very difficult. The best part of the premiere was how Theresa Lisbon turned the tables on Patrick Jane. She showed that she can read him and that she knows how to manipulate him - which is what he usually does to everyone else. Oh he was so annoyed. I was so delighted. Something was up with his hair but... once I got into the episode, it didn't bother me as much.
I'm tempted to watch the premiere of Castle on Hulu. I am NOT being realistic about this TV watching. The good thing is, I'm going to get busy soon so I won't be able to keep this up.
