The AlphaSite, that is.
I hit 78GB of my 80GB per month bandwidth limit, and they shut me down. They leave me that extra 2GB, I think, so that my email doesn't shut off. I can't imagine any circumstance under which I would use 2GB of bandwidth for email in an entire month, let alone 3 days, but oh well.
Okay, so here's what I'm doing. I didn't want to do this - I resisted doing this - I hate doing this - but...
Guys, I need your help. I'd give anything in the world to not have to ask this, but I just can't afford this on my own any more. If this doesn't work, the only other option I have is to change the way the videos are downloaded, and I don't want to do that. I don't want to put them behind a password, I don't want to force people to "join" TAS to download them, I refuse to charge money for them, I don't want to rotate them (thereby having a whole bunch of them inaccessible a large part of the time)...
And no, I don't want to beg for donations, but it's really the only other option I have left.
I'm still searching for a new host (because of the bandwidth issue, mainly, but also because of less-than-adequate customer service and an apallingly slow FTP upload cap - it takes me 45 minutes to upload one high-quality .mpg video over FTP, and takes me under four minutes to download that exact same video via HTTP...), but I haven't made a final decision yet. Suffice it to say that I'm doing some serious research this time around - I will not "settle" for "cheap" ever again. I'm going to find a host server that will support TAS and will allow it to grow; I refuse to modify TAS in order to accomodate another cheap (and ultimately unsatisfactory) host. I will definitely keep you updated as my search progresses... I figure it's the least I can do. If you guys are going to help me pay for this, then you deserve to know exactly what it is you're paying for.
So anyway... yeah, this is me, begging for help. Please, guys, please - help me keep it alive.
