Well, it's not exactly what I was hoping to end up with, but it's pretty damn close.
I haven't figured out how to define the size of the text box on the Comment page yet, so it hangs over the edge of the box a bit... okay, a whole bunch... okay, like almost half of it sticks out... but I'm working on it.
Oh, um... yeah, there's one small glitch that I've noticed. I've got no "Summary" event defined for the Friend's page, so it gets a little wonky on that sidebar on that one... yeah, don't pay much attention to that sidebar at all. Everything ends up linking you to the last event on the Summary box, whatever that might be. Give me a few more days to figure out how to fix that.
So, how did I do it? I promised you the full story, if I was successful, so here ya go.
still_burning created an S2 layout layer that is almost 100% customizable using only basic html and css. How close to 100%? Well, I'd say that roughly 90% of what I changed to get this particular style up and running was done by modifying one basic html layout at the bottom of the layout layer and the .css file that she provides a link to. The 10% that I changed in other places were minor things that I'm sure I'm one of few people who would care about - switching the order of the title and date on the Recent Entries page, setting the width of the icon cell on the Friends and Comments pages... tiny little things.
So if you're wanting to get a completely custom LJ style, with minimal effort and knowledge involved, you should
check it out.
