Why does all this extra shit even matter?
A grown man with a gun chases a seventeen year old kid. We know he did it. He admits he did it. He also admits that he shot that kid in the chest and killed him.
We know these things.
It doesn't matter if that kid was suspended from school. It doesn't matter what for. It doesn't matter if he'd been suspended before, if he had a smart mouth, how tall he was, or what he was wearing. It doesn't matter if he punched the man who was chasing him.
You know why? Because that grown man, the one with the gun, was chasing a seventeen year old kid for no fucking reason.
You know who was defending himself? The seventeen year old kid. You know who was the aggressor in this situation? That's right - the grown man with the gun.
You cannot shoot someone for defending themselves from you. You cannot claim that you shot them in self defense when they were defending themselves from you. You cannot shoot someone dead and then scream about your right to due process and your right to not be arrested and your right to get on with your life. Unless you're an asshole.
You know why? Because there's still a dead seventeen year old kid laying on the ground, and you're still the one who put him there.
