Oh, I don't believe everything that's said there, either. Not by a long shot. I even doubted this too, at first, until one of the people who was there came in and told us what she was so upset about. And I don't think it was just one person, either. I think there were three or four different people all saying the same things.

Actually, the convention organizers of this hypothetical convention based their decision on first hand reports from people who were at the convention, witnessed the acts and who complained.

You'll have to forgive me. I've done quite a bit of reading on both sides of the wank and I know my gut reaction. That said, I wasn't there, I don't know anyone involved personally, and I'm leery of calling comprehensive judgement of anyone in those circumstances.

You don't have to have a flist of 1000+ to make or a difference or be important. Fandom thrives on lurkers and casual fans, people who read and might never even comment, but who take pleasure and solace in doing this communal thing.

We're all in this together, and that's something people sometimes lose sight of.

Just so no one uses this as ammunition: I started reading the anonmeme when I was pointed to it by the person you're addressing this post to--when she accused us of reading it before. That is not in any way true (who that knows me or my rep would ever imagine I read anon comments?).

This whole situation has really upset someone I care about. I am not in the SPN fandom, but I do go to cons so I have knowledge of how they work. But all that is moot. The bottom line is this: people were lured into a situation under false pretenses. People exposed themselves to the lured parties without consent. The lured parties tried to leave, but were held against their will by another person forcing exposure on them
