I don't know if I made it or not

May 02, 2010 00:24

I started putting the email together at 11:58, but by the time I hit send, it was 12:04. So all I can do now is cross my fingers and pray that the BigBang goddesses are kind and merciful. :)

I've never done anything like this before, and I wasn't expecting it to have such an impact on me, but it really has. I'm shaking as I write this, and it's all from emotion. I started out at 10:30 this morning with 9000 words left to go. At 7:30, I still had 6000. At 11:52pm, I typed what will remain the last line of the story, and according to OpenOffice, I have 20,068 words.

It's done. It's still far from finished, of course, because while some scenes flowed so well that I probably won't have to touch them to do more than sort for typos (and whatever the betas tell me to fix), others were harder. Anyone who looks at it will know which parts I had to force out, because they're choppy, stilted, and jumpy.

But I got it done. And whether they accept it or not, this is still one of the most fulfilling moments of my writing life. That's gonna be enough for me.

Now that the writing is done... I'm off to start the rewrites.
