I just today finished reading the three existing Supernatural media tie-in novels and I just have to say that these three are, happily, leaps and bounds better than most media tie-ins I've read.
I've been working on more in-depth reviews of all three of them, but just let me say that... okay, you guys know my thing about getting characters' eye colors wrong, right? You know how much that bugs the shit outta me, right?
A man named Keith R.A. DeCandido wrote two of these novels, Nevermore and Bone Key.
One of my main gripes about Nevermore (and yes, I will go into more detail when I write the actual review - this is just about my pet peeves)? Yes, you guessed it, he got their eye colors wrong. He made Sam's brown and he made Dean's... blue. Yes, blue. The brown I can almost sorta see, in the right light especially, but blue?
So, yeah, that bugged me.
So, I go into his second one, Bone Key, expecting the same thing, right? I mean, I'm already expecting to be ticked off about the eye color thing, because he's already done it once.
But does he do it again? Does he mess up their eyes again?
Oh, hohoho! The first two sentences of Chapter Ten are:
"Anyone ever told you that you got the most amazing blue eyes?"
The truthful answer to that question was "no," since Dean didn't have blue eyes, and wasn't entirely sure how anyone could think he did..."
Bwahahahahaahahaha!
That is the best media tie-in CYA I have ever seen! I lovez it, lovez it, LOVEZ IT!
