Lateral Pass Me The Ketchup Please

This break went by way too fast! There was too much "business" to get through to even enjoy it. I had to work on taking an interim class at Oakton in May. It is a Monday through Thursday 8-12 noon class for three straight weeks! I am not looking forward to it. The point of cramming it all together is to get it over with so that my summer is not ruined by school. I will probably hate my life for those few weeks, but then it will all be done.

My parents' initial reaction to my news was overall pretty positive. I could tell they were both pretty shocked as I was speaking to them. My dad said he thought this day would come, he just never really thought about when or how he would react. My mom suggested I might be asexual, as opposed to homosexual. I told her that I was definitely attracted to men though. A few days later, it turns out my dad is not handling it as well as I thought. My mom told him he would benefit from talking to one or more of his siblings. That's not exactly the topic you want to bring up to your drinking buddies. He just needs some time to process the whole thing.

My mom and I had a heated discussion about gay marriage. She has always been against it, and claims that that will probably never change. Her only reason for believing this is that marriage should be between a man and a woman. I hypothetically suggested a situation: I meet a man and we are both in love and one of us becomes transgendered briefly and we get married as a man and a woman. Would this be acceptable in her eyes? She said yes because it is a man and a woman getting married. I said what is the point of all that. Wouldn't she rather just keep me the same? She said yes. Basically, her argument made no sense and I was really frustrated by that. It's the whole religion thing with her. She also thinks gay people get married for health insurance purposes only. Apparently, love has nothing to do with marriage. She actually did say love and marriage are two separate entities.

I decided against telling my grandma tomorrow. There is no point in rushing it when I know how badly she is going to react. My sister worked really hard on getting me to see this. She suggested I bring it up if I am actually dating a guy. Basically, she will probably find out this upcoming summer. Therefore, my three aunts, two uncles, and my grandma (all on my mom's side) do not know. This is not how I wanted to do this, but, for the time being, it will have to work.

I got to spend Sunday night and all of Monday with Jenny, Dan, and Aviva. I spent the night over at their fabulous new house. Last time I went, the place was in shambles, since they had just moved in. Now, it looks really good. They live on a coule de sac with a lake in the back. Rhyme! Then, Monday, I joined Aviva's swimming class. My cousin, Alison, and her baby son, Luca, also take that class. We went over to their house afterward for a kick ass luncheon. I was really glad to spend so much time with my niece and sister. It had been a long time since it was just the three of us.

I planned on hanging out with Margaret but that never panned out. The only time we got to see each other was when she picked me up from Target to go back to her house where mamusha gave me a haircut! She foiled me with some blond highlights all over the place. She took a lot off the back and sides. It looks really good. I can't wait to pomade/gel it up when I get back to school. I look really hip.

I went clothes shopping with my mom! My main focus was choosing business casual stuff that will be acceptable for my tutoring and student teaching. I was seriously hurting in the khakis area. Now, I have three quality pairs, plus a load of really nice dress shirts. We hit up Payless, TJ Maxx, and that University wear store. I love getting name brand stuff for so much less! I plan on slowly building up my dress clothes wardrobe so that I do not have to spend too much cash all at once. I will probably go two more times over the summer before the whole task is adequately completed.

Maybe I will have time to update tomorrow or Sunday before I so enthusiastically go back to school.

By the way, I am super excited about next weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!

new haircut, gay marriage, interum class, coming out, clothes shopping, visiting jenny & dan
