Christmas is over! Well, officially, anyways. I will still be exchanging gifts with some friends here and there. My Christmas Eve and Day were awesome. I really love both sides of my family.
My dad’s half is a bit more formal, but we always have so much fun visiting and goofing off. Piper, my two-year old cousin was IN LOVE with her purple outfits she received. The other smaller outfit was for her doll, Pat. They were twins for the night! She also won the $300 grab bag raffle. She pulled her own name out of the hat! Removing the three $100 bills out of the envelope, she very matter-of-factly told her mom, “Three dollars!” I am really glad she won it. Especially with her little brother dying so recently. I baked mini apple pies for dessert over there. The hostess, my aunt, is famous for her apple pies. However, since she was not making any for Xmas, I swooped in with my own version. They came out really good. My family said it rivaled hers. She was a bit jealous!
My mom’s side has less people and is much more casual. There’s a lot of pandemonium with my grandma’s dogs. They never shut the hell up. My dad and I chuckle at the chaos that ensues. We are all really close over there. Yankee swap was a hit. I was picked second to last, which meant I had a choice of any of the opened gifts or the two remaining unopened gifts. I chose one of those and got “SNL Christmas.” A great gift considering I had no idea what the package was.
I got a slew of DVD’s, money, and some odds and ends. Favorites include the first Far Side day-by-day calendar in ages, “Sin City,” Fierce cologne, a lavish Beatles picture book, a Paul McCartney live concert DVD, and the Deal or No Deal board game. My stocking stuffers were off the hook too. On the other giving side of the coin, my struggling to pick out the right gifts for everyone paid off. My dad was thrilled to get his Led Zeppelin book! I like that I can afford to buy nice gifts.
Target scheduled me crazy style recently. I worked eight straight days with the exception of Xmas day. I finally have the whole day off tomorrow. A black pregnant employee walked out in handcuffs today. It makes me think she was not really pregnant; she just always had merch stocked up under her shirt!
California is coming up. Marge and I leave the fifth. I have not really processed that fact yet. I am still enjoying this portion of my winter vacation. I am really attempting to savor this five-week span. The next semester looks to be relatively difficult.
Our plumbing has completely backed up into our basement. We have to poo, shower, shave, and do laundry elsewhere until it is fixed. I brush my teeth and wash my hands in the kitchen sink with a large cooking pot to collect the water. Then, I walk it outside and dump it. What a joke. Some guys are coming tomorrow to assess, and, hopefully, fix it.
My kidney thing has sort of tapered off. After that day of the burning pee, nothing else really happened. All three separate doctors I have visited since have said nothing abnormal is going on. I had an ultrasound of my kidneys done today to check for stones. She said, as far as she could tell, everything looked great. I get the official report in two days. If that is the case, I think I will be back to normal. What a hassle though!
I told myself I would only listen to one song off of “Rubber Soul” but I just can’t bring myself to turn it off.
That’s all I have to tell you. Have a great 2007. See some of you soon!
