Hey all!

Hope you're doing well.  Just a FYI - it's been almost a year since this generation of moderator has been in charge.

Pretty soon, elections and such will come up for new moderators, and a possible changing of the guard.

A few reminders:I haven't ( Read more... )

It's summer! That means it's practically vacation, considering what the semester is usually like :P I'm really, really enjoying the opportunity to see and hang out with my friends again--we might as well be living on separate planets for all we get to see each other normally; we're all kind of busy with extremely badly-coordinated schedules.

Your life sounds frenetic! Take care of yourself, Jacques. <3

It's so frenetic that I'm just now getting to these e-mails! I really need to sit down and rethink the way I organize my time, and the criteria by which I think it'd be smart to take on a new project.

Hope you can get a break soon, Jacques!

As for me: I'm a med student. That in itself pretty much equates a busy life, at least as busy as one can get with full days of classes and full nights of reading and casework. I also happen to be taking on two extracurricular activities this school year (a peer tutoring group and a weekly volunteers clinic).

On top of this I am in charge of a year-long read through at a certain fan forum. I also am working on an incredibly complicated fanfiction (spawned by one innocent question), and I still do other writing.

It probably is understood now that Niliwen has unlearned sleeping.

I maintain my life and personality via writing, fandom, and the support of friends both in and out of med school. I particularly value the company of my friends who are not in my field since they keep me anchored to the best parts of my personality: that part of me that is still optimistic, generous, persevering and compassionate, and entered the medical field to pursue a dream.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't make it as a med student. No, I'm positive I wouldn't. I'm not structured enough, and I don't think I could ever be. I don't have the slightest idea how you've ever been able to WRITE on top of everything else you do.

I don't know how I do it either. It's only gotten busier over the years.

Wow, that sounds awfully busy, I would sit out on doing so many things in a week!

Mainly my life is pretty stress-free, and I meet up with friends 2-3 times a month.. Nights and weekends are just spent chatting.. The fiance and I are taking the wedding planning pretty easy, and I have been knitting baskets for the wedding favours.

For me it's waves of busy punctuated by eddies of calm. Always moving forward but not in such a rush.

I have to remind myself to breathe and eat in those rushing times. Or, I should say, hubby does. Normally this is my busy season, and it is, but I am making sure to make time for Son (since this is his last summer home for 4 years) and taking things a bit slower and instead I am getting much better at delegating.

In my experience, once you have kids, you don't get to have friends. And it's harder to cook good stuff and get all the housework done (for instance, there are more people making messes.)

I don't really have a life or a personality anymore.

However, I think you will all manage once you have kids, depending on how many you have. You have inlaws kind of near by to help with kids (which I don't have.) You are a good team.

You'll be fine. One thing at a time.

I've heard that about kids and friends, but I'm determined to find a way to make it work anyways. I think there may be untapped possibility here.
