Tuesday week 4 chatter post

Sometimes when I'm feeling lonely but not particularly social, I like to sit near people and watch them work. For most people, there's one particular activity that defines them to me, and that's what I want to watch them do. I like to watch one of my roommates work on cars. Another one, I like to watch in our porch-rail garden. Some of my friends are great to watch cook, or play video games, or knit. Just because I associate this one activity with them doesn't mean it's all I ever want to see them do or anything; it's just how I want to watch them when I don't feel like getting involved.

This can even apply to my online friends. I like to watch lalalaleigha learn things about herself. I like to watch likelike_love write. I like to watch innana88 write in her LJ - which is pretty funny, but rather convenient, as any time I'm lonely I can just go read her entries! It doesn't matter what Leigha learns or what the other two are writing about. It's the process I like to see.

I always wonder: if I could sit beside myself and watch myself do something, what would it be? I think I would love to watch TV with myself, or maybe I'd like to watch myself work on my website. I don't know if I'd be able to write with someone looking over my shoulder, but I'd probably enjoy watching that, too.

What is one activity that you think people associate with you the most? Is there something you would rather they associate you with? Why?
