Open letter to The MN Wild
And I finally feel human again. :D
Which is good as life really cannot be delayed any more. I has homework and fics to be working on. For srs.
And have watched hockey. Wings beat Leafs 4-3. Squee. Wild beat Habs 3-0. Double Squee. Also have reviewed the Wild Roster. I am older than more than 2/3 of their roster. Yup. They really are a young team in more ways than one. I also am wondering what are the chances of me getting in to their locker room to give them a little pre-season pep-talk:
a) look, Timberwolves lost Garnett in '07...we may recover from that, we may not. b) the glory days of the Twins (back in the days when we were World Series contenders and did win) sad as it may be, may be something we may not recover again (god, I miss those days...thos were the late 80s-early 90s bts) and c) do you really want to get me started on the Vikes....do you now?, so look Wild, you may be our best shot at sports glory here....So guys, you're going to have to step it up a notch, keep your focus and go with it. Give us something to be proud of. We could really use it.
I realize you lost some key players this year...Rolston, Parrish, Lemaire, Demitra, but one player does not a team make. It's up to the rest of you to step up and fill the void and show what you can do.
And Gaborik...quit whining about your contract and holding out for more...prove to us you're worth the big bucks and we'll consider it. This is Minnesota...we frequent garage sales, flea markets and clearance racks...We don't go for spendy. You're being offered 8.5 million plus. Take it. If you pay off, when it's time to renegotiate, they'll make it up to you.
Also, consider signing Toby Peterson...he's playing in Dallas...we're considering revoking his MN citizenship rights for that. Srsly...looking at your roster...the closest to Minnesota you've got is Fargo, which, despite what Hollywood would have you believe is actually in North Dakota. You can ask your teammate, Danny Irmen, he'll back me up on that. I'm just saying...signing a MN boy would go a long way with the fanbase...
Now obviously, I'm still going to be cheering for the Wings, but as long as you're not up against them, I'll be cheering for you too. (Hey, 7 years without hockey is a long time...we had to find something...you really think we'd just carry our loyalties over to Dallas????
Also, your owner's a Cheesehead. Sorry 'bout that. Not sure if North Dakota Boy or Michigan Boy can explain what that means. If you had a Minnesotan (or a fellow cheesehead) on the roster, it would all be explained. Also, not sure who's allowing a cheesehead to own a Minnesota team, but well, not going to complain, lest they take hockey away for another 7 years again.
And I realize that you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket, but sometimes, one basket's all you've got.
