I promised Andrew I would be more productive today, since yesterday all I really got done was ordering the wedding albums that we're giving as Christmas gifts to our parents and grandparents. I got a sweet deal on those, by the way...50% off! Thank goodness!
We're going to take our honeymoon next week, heading to San Francisco. Andrew found a good bed and breakfast with an in-room fireplace, and we're making plans to enjoy some "us" time. We're planning to go to a burlesque show, see the San Francisco Ballet perform The Nutcracker, visit Ghirardelli Square, go to the Museum of Modern Art and the Exploratorium, and, if the weather is fair, Alcatraz. Depending on how the timing works out, we'd like to stop by Monterey to visit the aquarium and San Jose to see the Winchester Mystery House.
I ordered a couple of prints of our wedding photos--one for the beautiful 8 by 10 frame that Eric gave us, and one to submit to the newspaper--to pick up at Costco today. I should gather up all of my film from Labor Day Weekend in Yosemite and get those developed, too. I wonder if they can do black and white...or maybe I should just mix my chemicals and develop them myself. I'm kind of scared to, it's been so long! I used to be able to do two canisters at once while studying for another class without any trouble...somehow I doubt that I've still got that kind of skill! They got rid of the public-access darkroom on campus, so I will have to take the negatives somewhere to get prints made unless I track down the art department's friendly photography guy and beg use of the darkroom. Eh...we'll see.
No progress on the job front. I'm still weighing my options between substituting, which will be just enough financially and a new pain in the neck every day, or a non-teaching job, which could be better financially and the same ol' pain in the neck each day.
This was a great weekend. Friday my kids gave me flowers and lots of little thank-yous, including a book of letters from them that my master teacher compiled. That night we went out to dinner with Dad and Sonia at our favorite Mexican restaurant in town (hooray strawberry margarita...I haven't had anything to drink in a long time, so it hit me hard, but it was soooo yummy!). Saturday we went out to breakfast in Morro Bay, and then walked along the Embarcadero and visiting their sad little aquarium with a sea lion, two harbor seals, and dirty little saltwater fish tanks. I don't know how they are still operating...the seal tanks were smaller than a swimming pool! Sunday Andrew and I went back to Morro Bay for cinnamon rolls, The LA Times, and coffee while watching the seals and otters at Morro Rock. Afterwards, we went for a hike at Chorro Regional Park...by the way, when you're out of shape, a hike the Sierra Club rates as "easy" is more like "strenuous!" Once we got through the steep part, it was very nice, and we passed a classmate of Andrew's on our way back down the mountain. Andrew didn't want to stop and chat...apparently this was the guy who didn't show up to most of their design group's meetings.
I hate it when people confuse Star Trek and Star Wars...just thought I'd point out that a "Trekkie" is not a Star Wars fan. Get it right, Style Network!
Anyways, I should get to work since I have lots I want to get accomplished today.
Love, Jenna
