Wedding favor component arrived Monday and was waiting on our welcome mat when we got back from the desert.
Wedding shoes arrived Tuesday, and are wonderful.
Wedding gown arrived at my mom's house this evening...never, ever buy your dress on eBay! Sure, I got the dress at almost 1/3 of what the bridal shops wanted to charge me, but that was waaaay too stressful.
The shower was wonderful; got to see Stephanie and we shared lots of hugs and giggles, just like old times.
Got an awesome--and creative--gift from FSIL Amanda; will post about that later. FMIL gave me a big wicker laundry basket full of seasonal kitchen towels, which was cool as well. My cake was awesome; I've never had a "Barbie" o(where the dress is the cake and there's a torso sticking out of the top). Thank you notes to come...
Wednesday we received an unexpected Bed Bath & Beyond package, which turned out to be a very thoughtful gift from another dear friend and reader. Thank you, and you are welcome to dinner any time you are in the area (after the wedding, of course, 'cause until then, your gift is wrapped up safe and sound).
Andrew and I both have tomorrow off, and will obtain our marriage license, order our wedding rings, and work on invitations until our fingers fall off.
Next week I officially start student teaching, and then there's no turning back, I'm stuck with the little monsters for the rest of the quarter. I need to call the personnel office and get on the district's sub list so I can make a little money while I'm at it. Sadly, my Master Teacher's eldest daughter has a kidney condition, and will be going to Cedars-Sinai for a biopsy in a few weeks, and I may have the opportunity to sub for her.
Andrew and I have started praying together over dinner (he makes me do it because I'm the eloquent one), and it brings so much peace. I really, really, really want to go to church this Sunday. Maybe I'll go down to the mission to pray and light a candle too; the one year anniversary of
Christi Thomas' passing is approaching, and it only reminds me of how hard I prayed for a miracle for her last year, and that no matter how deeply I miss dear Grandma, it cannot even approach the pain her parents must be feeling.
Okay, I should stop being teary here at the Info Desk...as glad as I am to not feel the stress of wedding prep bearing down on me, I think I'll take it over the melancholy. Back to the search for personalized napkins...
Love, Jenna
