Soup is Good Food...
I look like I've been bawling my eyes out, but in reality I'm simply making French Onion Soup. Apparently, it's an all day process. Well, more to the point, when you're making it in this large of quantities, it's an all day process.
I'm using a Tyler Florence recipe (because attractive people are always better cooks, right?), and so far it seems as if it will turn out pretty well. The early bits of the process, though, were a little rough because Bob and I were working together, and he seemed to think that he could do it better than Tyler. Luckily, Andrew was able to intervene. For some reason, Bob believes everything Andrew says and very little of what I say. For example, I've always done soup like this in one pot. Tyler does it one pot. But Bob insisted we cook the onions separately and in batches until Andrew suggested doing it in one pot. As soon as Andrew said made the suggestion, it was fine. I'm not sure why this is. Should I blame the Patriarchy, my lack of assertiveness, or just something between Bob and I? Who knows, but I hope the soup turns out well.
