Here's to a Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate.
Turkey and football (Patriots!) and pumpkin pie - it's all good! And, if you can avoid family drama, it's even better. We're having about eleven people at New Buffalo: Bob, Joe, my mother, Andrew, our neighbors (Jenn and Saul), Greyson (Jason and Greg), an old hippie named Aquarius Frank, and me. It should be awkward, but fun. I've just finished making pecan-crusted pumpkin pies from scratch (Daniel grows some really great pie pumpkins), and we're also cooking the turkey, potatoes, and cranberry sauce.
EDIT: Of course, no Thanksgiving is without its share of chaos. Unbeknownst to us, the oven in the main building of New Buffalo isn't quite calibrated correctly. Obviously, this makes it hard to cook a turkey. Andrew was concerned, so he tried to bring it over here to cook, but, unfortunately, the roasting pan is a wee bit too small for our oven. So we had to carry it all the way back to the main building. FTR, it was like 17 degrees F at the time. LOL. Luckily, Greg and Jason had a meat thermometer and an instant-read thermometer, so we can monitor both the oven and the bird.
What are you all doing (well, if you celebrate)?
Finally, don't forget my
holiday card sign-ups. Everyone is welcome to a card!
EDIT: I know that I have a lot for which to be thankful, but I just got some exceedingly good news about Malcolm. As some of you know, Christina, the woman who took him on, decided she was unable to keep him. From what I understand, despite the fact that Malcolm adored her dog, Clyde, he never really bonded with Christina. He did, however, bond with Christina's uncle who really, really wanted him. So, now Malcolm is living in Florida in a fenced, five-acre area with someone who is home with him all day, every day. I am exceedingly happy.
