Thank you to everyone for your kind words in the previous post!!!
Well, I did it. Malcolm now has a new home! Oddly, I feel good about it. Yes, I still miss him so much that it hurts, but it is for the best and he was really happy to see Clyde. Also, he loved Christina and her mom came over and Malcolm loved her, too. In fact, he loved Josh and Christina's dad, too. I like that they're cool with him being a lovely dog.
I realize that dogs need discipline, but some people really seem to overdue that. I've seen too many guys at the dog park act like pricks, parading around showing off the fact that have managed to "conquer" some big, powerful breed of dog. And that only makes them look like douche bags, Malcolm is a sweet dog and he needs someone who will love him and let him be lovely.
I'll have pics tomorrow.
After we dropped him off, Andrew and I went out to dinner. He asked what I needed, and I answered truthfully: steak and alcohol. We went out to this seafood place and had a very nice dinner in Malcolm's honor and it was just what I needed.
In less savory news, we also killed the roosters (NOT Sirius and Remus) today. That, too, was something that we'd been putting off due to the general unpleasantness of the task. I'm not sure what the thinking (other than expediency) was to do it right then, but it almost made giving Malcolm away easier. At least he was alive and going someplace good. We, however, are making chicken broth.
Rec's:
I don't have a
lupinbigbang because I did not finish last night's story. It looked good but angsty, and I was not quite able to do angst at the time. And
hp_nextgen_fest has come to a close! The final offerings are:
Where the Rift Mends just about killed me this morning. The angst! The grief! The beauty! The NC17 sex! This tragically lovely Ginny/Scorpius tells the story of the Potter clan in the aftermath of Harry's death, but it is really more about the characters, themselves. There were moments that were absolutely stunning, and I feel that it was written by someone who was genuinely acquainted with grief. It may tear your heart out at times, but it is worth a read.
The Magical Squib is Lily on skates with a side dish of Albus/Scorpius. It's very sweet and, like an earlier entry, somewhat Olympics based, but, most importantly, this sweet little PG13 fic mingles the Muggle and Wizarding worlds nicely.
