2x22 As I lay dying
Where do I even start? THIS to me was a finale episode. It made last week seem like nothing at all! Well, except Jenna.
The only aspect of this episode that really struck me is Elena. She is winning me over one step at a time. She was really angry with Damon. But... she put all that aside to take care of him and make sure he wouldn't die alone. THAT to me is amazing. She really is a generous. The kiss was just amazing. It wasn't needed. She could have stopped at just saying the right words to make him feel calmer and better. But she didn't stop there.
Stefan... stepped up to the plate. About time, but he is giving up what he wants to be. He is giving up EVERYTHING he's accomplished and fought for for such a long time. As much as I love seeing evil Stefan, to know that he is doing this out of guilt (like Damon was killing himself out of guilt) and for Damon, it is really so poetic and so terrible at the same time.
Damon broke my heart again. He does it every week, but he still got to me. When he talked to Elena, saying he needed her forgiveness but not saying why... "take all the time you need". He was giving her time he didn't have. I don't care what anybody says... When Elena kissed him... that was when I started sobbing! Seeing him make that choice with Katherine wasn't new. We already knew that he drank her blood willingly. But Elena kissing him...
When Liz shot Jeremy, I kinda yelled. WTF doesn't cover it. But then it turned out to be another fake out. Why? I'm guessing they plan to add ghosts or a very disturbed Jeremy next season. I cheered when Vicky turned up though. And Anna.
For S3 the playing field where the triangle is concerned is evened. Damon is no longer a delusional third wheel. Elena is the one who took that step. There was no force, there wasn't a need for her to do it. She had already said so many things to make him feel better and calm in dying. Elena stepped closer to him.
Not that I ship any kind of relationship. But if Damon and Elena are to get together, it will be during the time they spend looking for Stefan. Because there will be that. There is no way they will just give up on him now that Damon is back to life.
