On a more positive note

I caved and ordered myself the Moonlight dvd. I shouldn't but... You know. How could I forget the flawless nature of this cheesy but lovely show?

But not comparing Moonlight to TVD is so hard! Moonlight doesn't have me conflicted at all. As much as I love angst and dark broody types, Mick st John is just broody, angsty and conflicted enough to make sense. When Beth asks him (after seeing him in vamped out state sucking down a bloodbag) about what he is he doesn't hold back. The only time her refuses to answer her questions is when it's about Coraline. And even then, he makes it clear that he won't answer the question, in stead of pretending that there is nothing to tell.

Beth... is amazing. She kicks ass, she is self relient, she is curious. And she's quickwitted and fast. She and her boyfriend feel like they are just really besties. More than anything else, which is probably why Mick has so much pull.

The other thing with them is that he does know her from the past. He resqued her from Coraline. And confesses to keeping an eye on her. But his objective was so different from Stefan's. It is based on concern for her wellbeing. Not lust (well, not at first). The funny thing is that she is the one who brings up sex FIRST.

I guess the kind of conflict I like in my shows comes AFTER the watching. And not the kind where I feel like I am watching a runaway train. I know what the writers want me me believe about the characters. They are flawed. Very flawed. But it's not like I'm watching a character do OOC things whenever the "plot" needs it.

vampires, tv shows
