First, the pin wheel blanket I've been working on forEVER:
Made out of a
Caron One Pound in soft lilac, and trimmed with some lovely, fluffy yarn that I bought long, long ago to tie off a quilt, and (obviously) had left-overs of. The trim had tufts of pastel pink, blue and lavendar and just blended right in...I really love it. The pictures really don't do the blanket justice, and I wish I'd taken another picture after I'd washed it and trimmed all the ends, because once washed it just laid so lovely...it's a very nice blanket. You can see the spot early on where I lost count and put the holes in the wrong place - oops! lol I hope the mom likes it.
These are just
Carter's newborn baby tee-shirts that I decorated, front and back. I used a combination of free hand and stencils,
fabric paint markers and clear, crystal/sparkle fabric paint, and my own imagination. :o) The recipient said she doesn't want to put them on the baby, she just wants to cut them out and frame them. I thought they turned out very nicely.
This part was an especially personal gift, as anyone who proof-read my marketing paper for me will know, because the recipient is my (very!) pregnant study group co-member, and the company we always use in our made-up company assignments is called "Baby Buggies". When we used them in our English class, they made personalized layettes with hand painted/embroidered bugs on them. That was the first time we used the idea, and it was actually her idea...I wanted to invent a company that picked up dog poop. ;o) So it's kind of like her company, embodied for her baby. I dunno, I just wanted to give it a special touch.
I'm still friggin' exhausted...but I can't stop yet. I got homework to do. For our Management course this week, we have a business ethics group assignment. We've been given a scenario that describes a make believe business and a huge ethical crisis they're currently facing. We have to come up with two possible scenarios for solving the problem, as well as show the effects we think these scenarios will have on our company. Our scenario is a lot like what's facing Iam's and Beneful and whichever other companies were involved in the rat-poisin debacle. We're a large company that makes hair and skin care products, that tests on animals. We always say we're very kind to our test animals, blah blah blah, but there was an accident recently and it caused almost 600 test animals to die horrible, painful deaths and still more to be put down. An employee is going to the press. So we have to decide how to handle the situation. My group member's coming up with one idea, and I have to come up with the other. So this will require some research and thought.
My husband says to send the mob after the employee, and then hold a press conference and say, "Hey...there's plenty more animals where those one's came from!" This is why we do not listen to my husband when he offers homework advice, and instead threaten to kick him in the head if he doesn't leave the room. Ass.
Projects I'm working on this week, aside from homework? Sewing up some clothes for the girls before my sister-in-law writes AGAIN asking for her sewing machine back. (She gave it to me two years ago saying she'd never, ever need it. Indian giver. Yes, I'm feeling snarky today.) Planning a vegetable garden and
ordering the seeds for expanding on my herb garden. (Food is expensive, and now that I know how to can I'd rather grow it and put it up myself. And my fence is ugly - some herbs grow to beautiful heights that will hide the hideous thing. I'm also planning copious numbers of sunflowers.) Looking for a replacement sewing machine. That's it. That's plenty. :o)
Love y'all!
PS - Yes, this is long and rambly and probably should be cut, but I'm tired, and my husband is snoring exactly like he was at 2am when his snoring woke me up and was so obnoxious I had to go sleep on the couch, and at the grocery store an old lady purposely rammed me with her shopping cart for walking around her, and...and...I'm testy. And misery loves company, so join me. ;o)
