Gobble gobble!

Today is my family's Thanksgiving...appropriately, I am up at 6:30 in the morning. YAY!!! Ok, well, actually I was up at 6:00, and it was because my son was sitting in the bathroom, hacking his lungs out while sneaking a peek at Chris's damned Maxim. But never mind that now, because it's Thanksgiving!! YAY!!

So, on the agenda today...first, non-Thanksgiving related tasks. Geoff has a Best Buy gift card burning a hole in his pocket. I was supposed to take him to spend it last week, but we were all sick...so this week it is. Also, it's cold and Lorelei needs more thick, wooly tights for her uniform skirts, and some longsleeve uniform shirts. So a trip to Walmart. I want this trip to take an hour or less, which is why it didn't happen yesterday. It takes more than an hour to wipe your nose on Black Friday.

Now, Thanksgiving related activities - we are having guests, which pleases me to no end! :o) Not my family, of course. The sister-of-my-heart, catscure is coming over, and Lorelei invited her new best friend, Madison. Guests require cleaning, so, the kids all cleaned their rooms yesterday, Geoff will vacuum the stairs and halls today, I will handle litterboxes, the bathroom and mopping the kitchen floor, and Chris will deep clean the kitchen. I made Lorelei help me with the living room two days ago, so it's golden. I have apple and cinnamon scented candles, and a fire log (YAY, fire!!!!!), and Christy's bringing wine. And the girls are going to make placemats out of leaves from outside pressed between two layers of clear contact paper, because it pleases them to do so. So you GO girls!

I am serving a 20lb turkey, stuffing, cheesy potatoes, yeast rolls, corn (Lorelei has very unsophisticated vegetable likes), steamed broccoli in butter, cranberry sauce, a pumpkin pie, a blueberry pie, and hot, spiced cider. I fully expect everyone to eat till they can't walk...the rest of the turkey (and there will be leftover!) is going into turkey soup and turkey casserole tonight before I go to bed. I fully expect to run out of Gladware, to be completely exhausted by the end of the night, and to have my house smell like heaven all day long. :o) I love Thanksgiving.

So, time to throw clothing in the drier, check the turkey for defrosting progress, and get to gettin'! Hope you all have a lovely Saturday!
