Sylvia has known for some time that pushing buttons = something happens.
Her latest discovery is that she can turn the TV on and off. Which means that her favorite game is running into the room and turning off the television when my brother is playing Wii games. I scold her with phrases like "that's not polite" and "don't touch that" and if she's done it too frequently "that's not nice." I try to avoid things like "that's bad" or "that's wrong", because there's nothing really wrong with turning off the TV so that your silly uncle will play with you. It's just not the nicest thing to do.
So now she's running around inspecting the mess that my brothers have made in the living room. She's pretty adorable. Not that I'm biased.
Anyway. Still not talking, but she's some some pretty amazing understanding which I find to be awesome. She's climbing the stairs, which scares me shitless, but when she gets to the top she doesn't stand up, she crawls onto her belly, then scoots so that she is facing the stairs, backs up a foot or two, and then stands up. She is deliberately careful at the top of the stairs. When I saw her do this the first time I was just floored. She makes such amazing connections and discoveries everyday. Last week, while my mom was getting ready for work Sylvia watched her getting her first shoe on. Then Sylvia picked up and handed my mom her other shoe. I'm told it was very cute.
Anyway. Not much else going on in the real-world factor. Summer continues to be a motivation suck. My mom's been gone since Thursday, and my siblings were with their dad this weekend. So it was mostly just Joshua and Sylvia and I all weekend. It was nice. Quiet. Joshua's still working overnight, which I hate. He works tonight but then has 2 nights off. Tuesday is WoW Kara night, hopefully Wednesday we will go out.
The non-meat eating front is fairing pretty well. I've introduced chicken back into my diet successfully. As long as it isn't greasy fried chicken I have had no stomach aches. Beef has been thrown out entirely (though I really have wanted a hamburger the past two days in a way that a veggieburger just will not do) and pork is a rare treat. Like last weekend when we had friends of my mom's over for bbq, there were pork ribs. Even though they were hugely tasty I was more inclined towards the potato salad and baked beans. Meat was a nice bonus, but not my primary interest.
No idea if this has resulted in any actual weight loss. I started walking last week, but Friday morning my knees were killing me, and I got lazy. I haven't gone since but I think I will go out again tomorrow morning. One reason has been that I like to go walking around 7am, and with my mom gone I have to take Sylvia on Joshua's work mornings. If she's not already awake I hate to wake her up, and I can't leave the house to walk if she's not up. So I put it off and then just never do it.
Anyway, that's my week. I saw Chelsea this weekend, but had not really slept because of knee pain for a couple days, so I was sort of rambly during dinner and fell asleep promptly upon starting the movie. It was pretty lame. I need to have some more friend face time. Also, I'm pretty hungry. If this hamburger craving doesn't subside I'm going to succumb to it and make it an experiment to see if I get ubersick. I've unsuccessfully tried to curb the craving with chicken sandwich and veggie burger already.
