Full Metal Alchemist (the manga) came to an rousing end this month. the last 4 chapters were as epic as could be expected for this FMA fan who has a list of squees to count:

How many squees does it take to get to the bottom of FMA? )

manga, fma, fullmetal alchemist

I was delighted too--still delighted! There are no imperfections for me: no bothersome loose ends, nothing that niggles. The ending left me feeling fulfilled and happy with the time I'd invested in this story. I loved all the stuff you loved, but I was particularly happy with Ed trading his alchemy--that was such a great scene, Ed recognizing that he was more than the Fullmetal Alchemist, and that his friends and family were his main source of joy and satisfaction in life, not his magic talents. Such a great ending for Ed, who was always defined by what he could and couldn't do with alchemy. I also loved Ed's proposal, Winry's reaction, and Winry's loving acceptance of Ed's wandering feet--not so different than Tricia and Hohenheim, except Ed, I'm sure, always comes home.
