So, so good as in really, really awesome

Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson was fabulous!

It took me forever to get into it but honestly, honestly once I got into it (past ch 3 that is), it was so incredibly good. In fact, that trouble I had getting into it was because of my own prejudice, not the actual start of the story because I re-read the first three chapters and I realize that I was the hold up, not the writer's prose. Because the story is not mind breaking or pretentious or anything that I thought it was going to be. It was just a really awesome entertaining read with two wonderful heroines, solid world building, very likable 'heroes', villains who make sense, and a political chicanery that never overwhelms.

I mean, yeah, the king is a guy and the godliest of them all is also a guy, but the two women (sisters Vivenna and Siri) are the real pivot points of the story. Without them, the story does not move and they get to be what they want to be.

I also got a treat in finding the new Atticus Kodiak novel, Walking Dead by Greg Rucka, at the library. I prefer the Atticus books to Rucka's Queen & Country series so I was happy to read it. Now I just have to track down Patriot Acts to find out what happened between Critical Space and Walking Dead.

I'd probably be more squee! over Walking Dead but Warbreaker just bowled me over. I'm on that happy reader's high and being all dreamy over Susebron and Lightsong and Vasher while pondering who would be good to play Siri or Vivenna should it ever be made into a movie (and then i remember Whiteout was made into a movie and I feel clouds in my high but I'm trying to ignore the clouds).

Overall, I have had a good 5 days of reading. Happy, happy, JOY!
