I just rewatched "The Wheel" and highly recommend that anyone who owns the first season DVDs do the same and then immediately rewatch this:

It was brilliant the first time, but directly after "The Wheel" it's amazing. I need icons of "Sal" saying, "Who, me?" and of almost everyone (including Peggy but not "Sal") watching "Joan" walk away ( Read more... )

fabulousness, public, mad men, snl

Watched it last night...guh. I feel bad for Sal. Even though I kind of feel like we should trust Don at this point, if I were Sal I would still be super-nervous that he's going to bring that back at some point in the future.

Oh I LOVED the Sal subplot more than anything in the entire show. So incredible. And yeah, it sucks royally, but I think this is a clear indication that more will be happening soon -- as Bryan Batt put it in an interview, now he's tasted blood and he's going to want more. So that's really exciting. Also, I have absolute faith in Don's discretion -- he has a history of this, remember Peggy and the baby. That whole subtextual airplane conversation was so brilliant -- his underlying way of saying I don't care, just be careful. "Limit your exposure" - like "This never happened. It will shock you how much it never happened."

All in all I think things turned out pretty well.

Ooh, I hadn't heard that Bryan Batt comment. I can't wait to see what else happens with Sal. Poor Sal, if that damn fire alarm hadn't happened, that whole thing would've remained a secret and he could've gotten some.

And yeah, that airplane thing was amazing. Even though Sal doesn't know that Don rocks at discretion, hopefully he can relax a little bit after that. I like Don more with every episode I watch, even though he can be a cad. I love his loyalty.

I love that about the show - we end up feeling sympathetic for EVERYONE... and we also are given reasons to be mad at everyone. I hated Joan about as much as anyone in the first season and now I adore her - I of course sympathize enormosuly with Sal but I feel sorry for his wife - I love Don but I hate (well, have hated - not lately) the way he treats Betty, I feel sorry for Betty but I hate the way she treats her kids. I even care about PETER sometimes. It's such a brilliant show!!
